The coffee shop wasn't far from the book store so Karl suggested they walk. Nick agreed and the left the book store after Karl flipped over the white sighn that hanged on a hook in the middle of the door. It now said "closed"
"Alright let's head out! " Karl says skipping along the leaf covered side walk.
"I didn't think about this but, wouldn't your boss get mad if you leave? " sapnap says concerned.
"Oh no my uncle owns the store and he wouldn't mind he doesn't visit often anyway. "
"Oh ok that's a relief then. "
"Do you enjoy reading? " Nick asked wanting too keepo the conversation going.
"Like books? " Karl asked
"Well yeah no duh" Nick answers kinda condused why he asked.
"Hahah I know stupid question" Karl says to nicks response.
Karl continues on, "No quite simply I hate it. Its boring and why read you could just watch a video that would be far more entertaining. "
Sapnap mocks what he says earlier "well then why work at a bookstore? "
Karl ignores his reference and kicks a stick on the side walk path. "Because my uncle was struggling with keeping it open and could find workers. And I needed a summer job so I thought it would work out. " he takes a second and looked at the shorter boy next to him. He seemed interested and was listening to every word he said and pondering it. Karl continues on. "I really like the job it's peaceful and they have good computer systems. "
When Karl said that nicks eyes practically lit up.
"Do you code!? Or maybe game?! " Nick responded quickly.
He thought about his reaction and figured he seemed a little to exited.
"Yeah I mostly game but I can code a little my coding skills could use some work. Karl says coming to a stop.
Nick opens The door and Karl shortly follows after. Pausing there conversation they both walk up to the cashier and look up at the menu.
" so what would you like?" Sapnap asks Karl
"Umm actually... This probably isn't the best time to tell you but I don't like coffe." Karl says staring at the grown.
...
"......... Are you serious. " Nick says
"Mhm" Karl mutters a quick response
"Do you like tea? " sapnap asks
"No" Karl says short and sweet
......."I'll take a Crossant" karl finally says to the impatient looking barista.
"I'll have a Carmel frap extra whip" Nick says handing the barista his card.
"You didn't have to pay. " Karl says with a guilty kinda look on his face.
"Aww don't worry about it pretty boy, I offered to take you to the coffe shop. " Nick says looking at the lost boy next to him.
Karl blushed at the name and just awkwardly looked away.
They sat down and talked about games and programs which Nick was again way to exited about.
The orders were say on there table.
Nick sipped his coffe and Karl took a secound and looked at him. He had semi neat hair and he was dressed nicley. Karl got lost in his Hazel eyes. (That's cheesy but ok) he completely zoned out.
"Don't tell me you don't like crossants to? " Nick said snapping him out of his trance.
"Oh no I do just zoned out for a second" Karl says taking a bite of the pastry.
"It's all good no worries " Nick says taking yet another sip of the caffeinated drink.
Time skip-
"I should head back to the store. " Karl says standing up.
"Yeah that's a good idea it's getting late I should head home." Sapnap says in agreement
"I'll walk you back. " sapnap says
"Oh okay thank you, for everything by the way. " Karl responds gratefully.
"No problem "
Nick walks him home and they part ways.
Nick gets home and walks straight up to his room and lays in bed, he goes over every moment be has to day with him. The way he smiled and laughed at his stupid jokes. The look in his eyes when he talks about something he loves.
Damn. Nick thinks to himself
