Ch-2

"Greetings, Mother," Lenora curtsied herself in front of the queen, whose eyes once filled with love and adoration, now replaced by an indistinguishable coldness.

"You may rise, Lady Velorine," Eudora said.

"How may this lowly being serve you, Mother?" Lenora asked.

"Not me but the kingdom," Eudora responded, ignoring the evident sarcasm.

Frowning, Lenora suddenly looked up but regretted it immediately. She had never looked into the former Queen's eyes after the incident two years ago. This was not right. Something was fishy.

"Please…" Lenora said.

Eudora looked right at her and said, "You are going to marry the Werewolf king."

Lenora, once a proud Vampire Princess, lost everything in one moment. Her pride, arrogance, her dignity...everything came tearing down. The incident revealed the true faces of the people around her.

After she was convicted of murder, she was to be thrown into the dungeons. But the former Queen stopped her from being thrown. She still didn't understand why Eudora would risk so much for someone who has committed such a crime. But she said nothing. Her mother was older by a few thousand years.

She could even compel the royal blood of the vampire. She overpowered the king and ruled the kingdom. And still, she managed to take care of her children despite her troubles.

"Lenora… I don't want to repeat myself. You are going to marry the Werewolf king," She said.

"Mother, he is not of our species," Lenora said politely, hanging her head low.

"It doesn't matter. In three days… you will be married to him. Shift your things to the old wing. And groom yourself like a princess instead of a maid," Eudora said.

"That wouldn't be necessary,"  Lenora said.

"Clara…." Eudora called out.

A young maid with big, chubby cheeks walked into the room.

"Guide the princess to her previous wing," Eudora said firmly, paying no heed to Lenora.

"Mother, I can go by myself," Lenora protested.

"I am glad to hear that. Now get yourself out from this stinky chamber," she said.

"Mother, I need to pack my things," Lenora said.

"I don't think you need these shabby clothes," Eudora said.

"They might be shabby but they hold some importance, Mother. I won't embarrass you but I want them with me," she said.

"Whatever," Eudora said and turned around to leave.

The house was too shabby to bear even for a few minutes. Eudora had cringed inwardly when she heard the princess say that they were memories. Brushing away the thought, she continued forward. When she entered her room, she noticed the hems of her royal gowns covered in a thin layer of dust and soot.

Clapping her hands loudly, she waited for the maids to scurry in and addressed them. "Arrange a bath for me," she said.

The maids were quick to obey her words. Despite it being morning and it was odd for a vampire to take a bath in the morning, they said nothing. They knew better than to question her.

Soon, the bath was ready. She stripped off her clothes and slipped into the hot water. "Burn these dirty clothes," Eudora ordered her maids.

She didn't like the clothes being dirty.

Eudora washed without the help of the maids. She scrubbed her body in a way that her skin could start peeling off. The maids stood in fear not daring to move ahead as they were scared of her.

The Queen of Velorine Kingdom, the strongest Vampire in the whole kingdom, was a person to be feared.

Her words were the decree. Her actions were law. After Emperor Lich, Eudora was the strongest being. It was said that… only she has the power to go against Emperor Lich.
