Ch-6
"Take me there," Lenora's voice resounded in the hall.
"Miss. Lenora, you can't go there without the Dowager Queen's permission," the maid said.
Lenora looked into the maid's eyes, dilating when the maid's eyes rolled back for a few moments. "You will take me to the dungeons where my maids were held captive and you will help me in getting them out of that place," Lenora said.
The maid was at a loss when she heard her words. "I will take you to the dungeons and help you to get back the maids to you," the maid echoed her.
"Then we are good to go," Lenora said.
As they walked they came across a beautiful flower garden that was filled with night-blooming flowers. Unknown to her, a smile formed on her face. They did look awfully beautiful.
"My Lady, we cannot stay out in the open for too long if we're going to do this," the maid warned her.
Lenora sighed inwardly and set off again, walking at an even faster pace.
"Hmmm… Emperor Lich had already asked everyone to get everything done during the day before he would cast a spell on the castle. But why are we still moving during the night?" Lenora asked.
"Queen Mother refused the edict saying that it might harm the usual endeavours of Vampires," the maid replied.
"Hmmm," Lenora nodded.
The maid's behavior was rather off today she realised. She stopped suddenly and turned to look straight into the maid's eyes. Her pupils dilated. Soon, the maid was being compelled.
"Who are you working for?" she asked, her fingers around her neck.
"King Zaros," the maid replied in a monotone voice, her eyes staring dead straight, glassy..
"What were you intending to do?" she pressed. "To inject Boswellia into your body," The maid replied.
Lenora wanted to compel her and kill her right then and there. But if she did that… she would be exposed that she could compel vampires too.
Everyone knew that Vampires could compel humans, but they cannot compel vampires. They can compel anyone but. Only the original Vampires could compel vampires. Lenora wasn't an original but still, she could do it. Even she was shocked when she learned of this ability. She didn't expect she would have this. But after that fateful night, unlike other Vampires she could walk in the sun and can compel other vampires. She let herself experience the hardships because if she let it be known and rise into high profile, she would catch the eye of the Azazel Laroch. She didn't know why… but she has an unknown fear towards him despite not ever meeting him before. She even forgot that Azazel was the one who passed the judgment. She'd only found out from her maids.
Lenora knew there was really something about him. If not, why would she be so intrigued about a particular person? Placing the topic of him aside, she took deep breaths to calm herself. It was a known fact that vampires didn't have beating hearts. Very few Vampires were even stuck with beating hearts after their transformation. Those people would be either killed or left in the sun. As it was believed that they were weak.
One of the major changes that occurred to her after the accident two years ago was that she could walk in sunlight and had a beating heart. When the former king confided her to the shabby wing, she took it as an opportunity to hide. If anybody found out, then she would be done for.
Lenora could only try her best to hide her abilities from everyone, at least from Vampires. One of the reasons she agreed to marry the werewolf was because if werewolves pledged their loyalty they would try their best to hide the secret or to keep their word till their deaths. Lenora may not meet the Werewolf expectations but she could pledge her loyalty to them in return.
She shook her head, shaking the thoughts from her overloaded mind.
"You will forget everything that happened between us," Lenora says to the maid.
"I forgot everything that happened between us," she repeated, staring dazed at the ceiling. Lenora released her and shoved her back.
"And you will inform me of every plan Zaros has against me from now on," Lenora said.
"I will inform My lady of every plan Zaros has against My lady," she says.
"That's good. You woke up with a sore neck this morning," Lenora said, breaking off the connection after the last syllable.
"I woke up with a sore neck," the maid echoed, blinking profusely and looking around in confusion.
"Now, let's go," Lenora said as she walked ahead, the maid following her perplexed.
