"Is this a fucking reunion?"
The one question that ended with a burst of laughter's. "I'll take that as a yes." Tommy was unpleased, how did these two know each other and why wasn't he informed about it? He glared at Ranboo and rolled his eyes up. "Very funny, now STOP LAUGHING" He huffed, crossing his arms.
The laughter's from both soon died down and they carried on a conversation, with Tubbo explaining their first encounter and that soon turned into a rather different topic.
It wasn't really long until Tubbo had to go as much as he didn't want to and ending the call after their bids of goodbye. Tommy sighed, shutting his laptop close and fell back on his bed, the taller that watched. "What?" The Brit asked, his eyes that stared back at Ranboo who slowly shook his head and let silence fall in.
And when it did, he decided to speak again. "Do you ever wonder why we could see the strings while others can't?" He asked in catching Tommy's attention while he quickly sat up again. "Yeah? Like, always." He answered, staring down on his hands before turning to the taller. "Do you?"
Ranboo looked back, eyes blinking behind the shades before responding. "Of course I do" He said and held the blond's left hand up, their palms against each other, comparing them. "Your hands are small" He commented with a slight chuckle. Tommy scowled at him and pulled his hands away in just a split second when their hands touched. He gave the other a gentle elbow on the arm, displeased. "Shut the fuck up" He spat, earning a soft laughter from Ranboo.
"But it's true" He said, holding his hand up again. "Do it, and prove me wrong" He challenged which the shorter frowned to and leaned his palm against the brunette's.
He grimaced at it, a scoff from his mouth when he did. "See?" Ranboo giggled, slowly intterwining his fingers with Tommy's who quickly pulled off. "What the fuck, Ranboob I'm not gay" He stated and glared at his friend who shrugged. "Whatever you say. It's not gay for the homies to hold hands though"
The joke earned a groan and another eye roll from the Brit whilst Ranboo laughed his ass off at him. "I will personally throw you off the window, boob boy"
"Do I get a homie kiss before that?" And clearly the joke did manage to squeeze a laughter from Tommy. "Excuse me? You get none but my fist" He grinned, the other who held his hands up in defense rather jokingly.
Their conversation died down once again as the blond stared up at the taller male's covered up face. "I have a question."
"Yeah?"
"No offense but why do you wear masks and sunglasses even in indoors?" He asked with Ranboo who sighed softly. "Because I get anxious and uncomfortable without them"
"And why's that?"
"Tommy, I have facial dysmorphophobia." His answer took Tommy by surprise as he plastered a quite guilty look. "Sorry-"
"No, no! It's fine!" He quickly answered, his hands that shook vigorously. It made the Brit snicker at it which made the brunette smile. "I can take my glasses off if it eases your curiousity" He suggested, tapping on his glasses' frame. "It's okay, you don't have to if you're uncomfortable with it" Tommy smiled at his friend who had already lose his shades, his eyes that stared at him.
The blond looked at his face, mouth agape in shock. "What?" Ranboo asked, a nervous chuckle that escaped his mouth. "Do I look ba-"
"NO! It's just that- that, you look, just, woah- I MEAN- I mean, you look fine, relax-" Tommy said out and snatched his glasses, putting them back on him. Ranboo was surprised by the sudden movement but he was thankful for it anyways. "Thanks" He grinned even if Tommy couldn't see it, the blond returning a genuine smile on his face. "Don't mention it, bud" He gave a finger gun and stared up at the clock. "I think you should head home, man" He added with Ranboo nodding in agreement and got up which Tommy followed.
"I'll walk you home." He said, going over to the door and opened it. "Again, thanks, Tommy." The taller said out and followed in behind. "No problem, mate"
They made their way down to outside, cracking jokes here and there and laughing along. It was a short walk, the sky that turned into a shade of orange and pink, mostly pink on the blue sky. The view was pretty, quite breathtaking honestly but none paid attention to it as they were busy throwing playful insults at each other, sharing a laugh.
And when they arrived to the front there, that is when it is time for them to part ways. "See ya, boob boy" Tommy grinned, the other only chuckling and waved a hand at him. "See you, Toms" He bid, and went in his home.
The Brit smiled, humming himself a tune whilst he made his way back to Techno's place, unaware of the string that began to grew by its end, same for the brunette.
Tommy has always thought it was cheesy and foolish to fall in love. And after seeing his own brother broke down of losing his girlfriend long ago, he swore that he would never ever love anyone as much as Wilbur did for Sally. And that promise went on for years until now, none of the girls he had interest in, ever took any chance of him dating them.
He didn't remember when, but he was sure when he found love being, unusual for him perhaps it was the time he saw the strings appear in front of his very own eyes. The shade of red, neat and untangled around but quite annoying to see. He despised it of course, wanting it to disappear from his sight and never to return again.
Not only it, the first time he saw his own one that is cut off short, he was relief knowing that he was never to be assigned with a lover and to live how he wanted without a worry about it.
Now returning back to his chamber, he took a good look at his finger, noticing the length of it that grew. A concerned look was written on his face as his brows furrowed and a frustrated huff. It couldn't be. He thought, gaze looking out the window with a grimace. He was certain of his sexuality, or is he? Honestly, Tommy was confused, questioning of his preference but there is no way the American was the cause of it, right?
Yet, he wasn't the only one in doubt. The brunette had been sitting on the couch of his living room, his gaze that intensely stared at his string. It felt bizzare yet new, a feeling of small hope for him. For as long as he can remember, he was hopeless in finding love. None of them ever worked out or with him not having a slightest interest in any of the people he met.
Within each time that passed, slowly, he began to lose any single bit of hope he had, resulting in him to have no any beliefs in the word term, love. Everywhere he went, he could see happy couples or soulmates walking down the street. He despised it of course, finding it childish and stupid for people to dive right in blindly for the person they felt a strong connection to.
And he, he denied any feelings he had and chose to be alone. He thought it was wise, he thought it was for the better but now, all that thought was being crushed seeing someone similar to him.
Ranboo tore off the mask and glasses, taking in a deep breath as he buried his face into his hands. "No, no, we're just friends." He murmured to himself in trying to convince himself about it. It's just a day, they were friends, nothing more than that. Even if he managed to catch any feelings, he swore to shove it down and let it perish, keeping their friendship the way it is without any change. That is, for the better.
Nothing will ever change between them.
