Chapter 6

"What do you think you are doing in my shop?" He says.

The old man standing with a rifle pointed at them, empties his magazine and fills it with munitions. Lucas panicked and spoke up, "Please wait! Don't shoot us!"

He glances at Aiden, gesturing to him that the man is blind, he tries to approach him but...

"Take another step, and this time it'll going through your head" Lucas freeze on place buds of sweat forming on his face."

Seeing the mess, they ended up in, Aiden tries to reason the old man, "Please listen to me!" We've not come to steal from your store, we're just looking for shelter. "

The old man looks at him with suspicion.

Aiden "Haven't you heard the news? With all the things that's happening right now!"

Old men "I don't believe those storytellers. Lies and lies, that's all they spread"

Aiden "You can forget all the bullshit. What they are spreading now is the truth, every last one of us saw it, we all lost someone to them, so please! put you gun down and let us talk"

The old man's sturdiness spoke much, you could see that he had undergone a training worthy of the special forces, and despite his age he didn't seem to have lost his touch.

Captivated by the words and sincerity of the young man, he lowers his weapon but just when Lucas sighs with relief, he raises his weapon and BANG! another shot's gone...

On the east side of Berwick, around one mile and half away from Serenity Hospital, Dong's group still on their way to the Supermarket.

Dong was cautious of all his surrounding, he had to unsure their way no matter what, three lives depend on him.

As he moves forward, he admires the bravery that Blake shows throughout the journey, "How can he remain so calm even in this situation" Dong thought.

Blake "So, do you see something we should be careful of?"

Dong " Nothing! But it really strange how all this is easy?"

Will "I don't like it, it's too quiet"

Nathaly " Let just say we're lucky, and hope that we don't find something that will make us regret complaining about the quiet"

Blake " You're right... (Slight sigh) anyway let move on "

They moved forward, with nothing to stop them, they didn't even need to be alert of their surroundings, till their destination.

They stepped aside behind a wall. while Dong began to inspect the interior of the Simple market, the number of people hiding behind those walls surprised him, he knew that there was no way they could get something from that place.

He was maybe the leader of the group but nevertheless the decisions weren't his. He took a step backward, and informed them of the situations inside the store.

Nathaly " I think we should find another way to get supplies"

Will " From what Dong's saying, he can't compare the numbers of people inside that place with how much we have in the Hospital, so do you really think we can get something from there?"

Blake " I know, it was risky but I had to see it with my own eyes, we could have obtained some tools but we can't help it"

Blake takes out the map he had in his bag and search for the nearest store, from where they can get most of the things they needed.

Together, they try to estimate the distance between their position and the store closest to them.

"Here!" Will point his finger to a place not so far "It small but maybe we can find some useful goods"

They had to go faster this time, since they fixed the time to meet with the others. They all agreed on their new destination, they turned forward, and moved on. But Dong urged them to stop right there. Dong agape " Fuck..."

Blake surprised by Dong's reactions asks" What wrong?"

Dong " They surrounded the place...A dozen...no... more thirty maybe...But they are really just like how Aiden described them"

Will "Shit! Dong, explain!"

Dong " They are here...And many of them"

Nathaly " Who are you talking about?"

Dong " Those who put us in this mess...The death bringers"

Blake "Let get out of here! We can't stay"

Dong "What ? we can't just leave like this"

Blake "The hell! do you want to stay here...Really!"

Dong "And what tell us we're going to be okay if we leave right now"

Nathaly "His right Blake, we just have to stay silent and keep our eyes closed"

Will " I'm on the same page with them, and maybe we can find their purpose or maybe the way they work"

Blake thinks for a moment and says "Okay! let hide inside that drugstore"

They hurry inside and hide, a silence fills the store, you couldn't even hear their breath. Suddenly, only screams and cry made place.

Dong couldn't believe his eyes, carnage, blood shades, butchery none of those words could describe what happening inside, Old or young none was sparred. He could see the blood coming out of these people and staining the walls, heads and other parts of their bodies torn apart. A sight worthy of a horror movie. It took them only ten minutes to finish and disappear into thin air.

Dumbfounded, Dong couldn't swallow his words anymore. "What the heck!"

Nathaly "What happened inside?"

Dong "They slaughtered everyone and they disappeared"

Will " Fuck! how are we going to know what those shits have planned in their heads"

Blake " We won't get anywhere if we think like that...Anyway do you think it safe to go out"

Dong "There is nobody around, so it's sure to be safe"

Blake "Let go inside then"
