This is a high school setting of Waverly's junior year. Her sister's best friend moves in with them after a massive fight with her parents.

Waverly's POV

It's literally only been the first day of school and I've already caught Champ flirting with multiple girls. He keeps saying he is just being nice but I'm not as stupid as he is. I'm not blind, I have eyes. Bringing me out of my thoughts was my sister's best friend. Star basketball player Nicole Haught. Her and Wyn are both seniors and have played ball together since I can remember. In some ways she was just as bad as Champ when it came to flirting with girls. However, today her appearance portrays visible distress. Her navy button down shirt revealing her tense muscle in her shoulders and biceps. She hasn't slept either.

Shay Pressman a beautiful mixed girl came up behind her wrapping her arms around her. Nicole shrugged her off shaking her head. Shay has been attempting to pin her down for awhile but Nicole kept saying she didn't want to be in a relationship with anyone. Her locker slamming echoed after she grabbed her book leaving Shay annoyed as they went their separate ways. That was when I noticed we both have History together.

Normally I would sit upfront but this time I actually sat in the back. I couldn't stop thinking about my ass of a boyfriend. Who knows what or who he done over the summer. Placing my hand to my forehead taking a deep breath I opened my notebook writing the date preparing for the lecture.

"Hey is this seat taken?"
Nicole asked with a questioning look.

"Well I don't see anyone sitting there if you would like too."
I kindly smile at her as her dimples came into view.

"I would like too. Waverly are you ok?"
Concern laced in her tone.

"I could ask you the same thing. You look exhausted Nic."

"I am. I had a massive fight with my parents last night. So now it's your turn."
She pointed her pin in my direction queuing me to spill.

"Champ."
I stated with bite in my tone.

"Say no more."
Nicole rolled her eyes in visual disgust.

"I swear I'm only with him out of obligation being head cheerleader. Which is also idiotic in itself. It's like everyone wants to label everything and everyone to be this or that. I'm just so done with all of it. I'm seriously considering not cheering at all."

"Yeah about the labels...I understand that. Which is what the fight I had with my parents was over."
Nicole huffed writing down the first section of the PowerPoint.

"That just sounds bad. I'm sorry Nic. You wanna come over after school? Get some pizza or something?"
I asked sympathetically.

"I thought you were going with Champ after this?"
She turned waiting for my response.

"Absolutely not. I'll walk if I have too."
I huffed out shaking my head.

"Or you could just ride with me. You haven't talked to Wynonna yet have you? Because it'd be kinda silly for me not to take you home when I'm living there too now after I got kicked out last night...I don't know how long I'll be there. I hope that's ok. I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
She gave a nervous side eye as she kept writing.

"No! I'm happy you're gonna be there. I just hate the circumstances. Why on earth would I be uncomfortable? You have been friends with Wynonna since we were kids. It's not like you're a stranger."
The thought of her thinking I could ever have an issue with her being there baffled me.

"Well I am always there instead of with my family on the holidays. I don't know? I wasn't out until this passed year I just didn't want that to bother you or be weird I guess."
She rubbed the back of her neck anxiously.
