"Are you dead..."

Y/n blinked blankly a few times before letting out a loud belly laugh "pffff, h hold up I-omg that's hilarious...pffffhaha" she then placed her hand onto her face once her hysterical laughing halted

Silence quickly flooded in, making the choppy haired boy more anxious than ever "what makes you think that, huh...Amane~" she then trailed her hand upwards, allowing it to run through her wet hair (due to the rain) and expose her menacing gaze etching into his soul
(if gazes could kill he would be long gone)

He felt his blood run cold at her response. He didn't understand what she was trying to state, was it sarcasm or her sense of humour. "what's wrong, you look like you've seen a ghost" she uttered in a mocking tone, her menacing look shifting to nothing but a thin grin

He gulped fearfully before fixing his posture and tightening his hand into a fist "if you were a ghost, I wouldn't be able to touch you" Amane stated firmly

She observed his serious yet anxious expression with a stern look. Y/n couldn't tell if he was lying to himself or just plain stupid, maybe she was that good at hiding her ghost abilities...nah

"Hm, why so persistent, would you not like me if I were dead" she inquired placing her hand onto her cheek and expressed a sulking look, only to mock the boy further more

Amane sighed at her change of topic before beginning to ask another question "are you no.0"
She dropped her former expression and replaced it with grimace
"I don't like questions" she commented before jumping off the railings and placed her long H/c hair onto her shoulder, damping her clothes, she really hated her long hair-so bothersome and unnecessary.

She looked over her shoulder to the moon blocked off by the grey clouds. She sensed her eyes were beginning to fall empty once the memory of her last moments as a lively person rushed past. Oh that shitty feeling you get when you remember you are dead and assigned to save those who plan to be dead...

"I'm dead"
Amane began to feel a weird sensation in his throat, though he didn't know what it was, incredulous or tears. Now this time her tone wasn't mocking nor sarcastic, it was in fact, dead serious, yet he couldn't bring himself to believe her. He wanted proof, not words, proof

"Oh goddd, do I look like someone who would joke about death"

"...kinda"

"...actully you're not wrong"

She then sighed deeply before proceeding to take off a gold coloured beaded bracelet and let it rest onto the ground beside her "now, come hold my hand" she offered reaching out her hand to the 14 year old who only stared with a questioning look

He raised a brow before slowly stepping forward, each step he began to think about the bracelet she had taken off and her vacant expression, the last step he thought 'she's not dead' because he had the ability to touch her, the dead can't touch you nor can you touch them, so she is not a ghost

He then prepared to grip onto her hand like you would do when shaking a person's hand as a greeting. He expected to meet warmth and maybe reassurance from the handshake, but instead he was left with his hand blending into her own, as if it had just passed through thin air

He dilated his amber eyes before slowly raising them to meet Y/n's gaze. He felt his lips part once most of her figure began to look transparent, as if she was a figurative of his imagination this entire time...

"How about now Amane, am I dead or not" he watched as her face was serious, no thin smile, no mischievous grin, just...a mix of pure despair
"T Then...h how was I able to touch-" "the bracelet gives me the ability to touch those who are alive, helps out with my role" she cut off in a monotone placing strands of hair behind her ear, avoiding eye contact for a moment, but Amane thought he had glimpsed an unknown flicker of emotion in her eyes

'God...dammit"

"I'm dead. So, I'm guessing since I'm not you're fellow human you'll leave me alone, it's alright though, I should focus on my rumour anyway" he fell silent at her comment, he was just taken back by...everything, he didn't know what to say or think because his mind was completely blank, yet in this most important moment he should've said something at the very least

"Well, it was nice knowing you...Amane" he flinched at the mention of his name before rapidly raising his head to meet those expected E/c eyes, but anew he was left with nothing but the cold air blowing past

Was this her way of blocking him off, because it sure did hurt a lot

"...I messed up"
