———The sun was just kissing the horizon, colouring the sky around it in shades of yellow, when you woke up. The snow had just started to fall, despite the white banks it had left the night before. You had snuggled closer to Bucky, shivering slightly as you peeked over your shoulder to look out the window. His metal arm was underneath you, warm and hot against your bare skin—one of the benefits of having a metal arm was that it didn't fall asleep. His other arm was draped over your waist, tugging you even closer when he shifted.
"Morning, doll," he mumbled, voice husky and groggy with sleep. You looked up at him to see his steel blue eyes, butterflies erupting in your stomach.
"Morning, baby," you croaked out, nuzzling your face into his chest. He chuckled lightly, chest vibrating. His arms tightened around you, your arms squished between your chest and his—they were warmer there. You squirmed, making Bucky's arms loosen just enough so that you could roll over—your right arm had started falling asleep. Bucky tugged you closer, your back pressed firmly against his chest.
"I wish we could stay like this forever," you whispered after a few minutes of silence. Your stomach had started to drop with every passing second, knowing that Bucky would leave you again for a mission in a few hours.
Bucky kissed your shoulder, lips lingering there for a moment. "Me too," he agreed, peppering another kiss on your shoulder and making his way up to your jaw. "I love you," he whispered into your ear. Even though it wasn't the first time Bucky had said those words to you, your heart still skipped a beat at his confession.
"I love you too."
Bucky shifted behind you, turning you by the hips so that you faced the ceiling. He climbed onto you, making sure not to put his full weight on you. His eyes held your gaze as leaned down to kiss you. His lips were so warm compared to yours, kissing you slowly to leave you lightheaded. His lips left yours, a huff falling out of your mouth, making him chuckle before pecking your lips once more. He gave you a boyish grin before looking over at his phone. Your eyes darted to his phone as well, an annoyed look on your face.
His alarm had gone off.
Bucky let out a sigh, hanging his head as you let out a small sigh. "'M sorry, doll. I would stay—"
"I know, Bucky," you interrupted, weaving your hand through his hair, ignoring the cold that hit you as your arms left the warm blanket. "It's okay." You brought his lips down to yours, kissing him gently as you could. He pulled away reluctantly, reaching over to turn the damn beeping off.
"I wish I could stay," Bucky said once more, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. "You're my everything. You know that, right?"
You smiled softly, scraping your nails against his scalp gently. "I know. You're my everything, too."
"No," Bucky said, pausing to lick his lips, "that's not it. That's not what I meant." He let out a breathy chuckle as your mouth formed an 'o'. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he placed his forearms beside your head to hold himself up.
"What did you mean then, Mr. Barnes?" You asked, raising an eyebrow dramatically. Bucky smiled and kissed your nose, watching you scrunch it as he looked back down at you again.
"I—" He was cut off by his phone ringing again, this time Steve's face flashed on the screen. He was going to kill the punk one day.
You had noticed his hesitation as he eyed the phone wearily. "Go ahead and answer it, Bucky," you said with the best smile you could muster up, regardless of the growing pit in your stomach. Bucky glanced at you, eyes vulnerable with emotions, filling you with warmth. He always had a vulnerable side when it came to you. He let you read his eyes, in spite of guarding his feelings for everyone else.
