Chapter Five: Ending of the Chunin Selection Exams

A leaf appears in the middle of the arena, and soon after that, more appear surrounding Nii-san and Kakashi-Sensei while both are back-to-back. I face palm myself as to what Sasuke had said about Kakashi-Sensei always being late. I think Nii-san is turning out more like his Sensei.
"Sorry we're late. You wouldn't believe the traffic." Kakashi-Sensei said. "And you are?" The proctor asks. Nii-san says, "I'm Sasuke Uchiha."
Naruto gets worked up by Nii-san being late, but Nii-san says, "So what about you? Did you win?" Naruto grins, "You know it!" "Well don't get too full of yourself. You're still a loser." Nii-san said.
"Sorry if we kept you waiting. But umm... How late are we? It's not like Sasuke is disqualified or anything, right?" Kakashi asks sounding embarrassed. "Like master, like pupil. Even your lousy sense of time." Genma continues, "You know, you're so late, we extended your deadline. Twice, in fact. And it's lucky for you, we did. Because you just made it, so he's not disqualified." Kakashi-Sensei says sounding relieved, "Oh, that's a relief. You got me worried there for a minute."
Naruto says to Nii-san, "Hey Sasuke! Don't lose to that guy! 'Cause I want to fight you myself!" "Got it," Nii-san said. Now the crowd is sounding happy that Nii-san is finally here.
"Alright Gaara, time to come down here." Genma says to Gaara. Shikamaru tells Naruto to head back up, but they're taking the stairs this time.
Gaara arrives down stairs within a minute, and Genma tells them to go to the middle. Nii-san better be careful; after what Hinata, Shino, Kiba, Akamaru and I saw in the Forest Of Death, Gaara is obviously not the kind of person you want to battle unless you want to die.
Genma tells them to start. Sand comes out of the gourd on Gaara's back. It's about to attack Nii-san, but Gaara looks like he's had a migraine. He starts talking to himself. Looks like some kind of conversation. The 'migraine' stops and he's calmed down. Nii-san throws two shuriken at Gaara, but the sand protects him and creates a sand clone to attack Nii-san. Nii-san tries attacking again, but again, the sand protects Gaara.
Nii-san tries to punch Gaara, but it was a trick. He rushes backwards, then appears behind Gaara. My... What strength Nii-san has gained within the last month. The attack Nii-san does breaks Gaara's sand. Nii-san rushes to attack Gaara, and Gaara uses his sand to try and protect him. Sasuke used his speed to quickly get behind Gaara and attack him while dodging Gaara's attacks. Nii-san kicks Gaara back and both try attacking or defending. But the end of that, both Nii-san and Gaara are out of breath.
Gaara forms a round sand shield around him, almost like an eye. Sasuke tries to punch Gaara before the round sand shield covers Gaara completely, but fails. Nii-san tries to attack the round defense Gaara has created, nothing works to damage it. It just defended itself.
Nii-san loosens a piece of equipment, and Nii-san goes onto the side of the wall. He does a jutsu that sounds like chirping birds; thousands of them. It looks like lightning, and it's visible. Nii-san quickly runs down the wall and attacks Gaara with the jutsu. The jutsu breaks through the sand and Sasuke's hand stays there.
By the sounds of it, it seems the two others of Sunagakure sound shocked.
"AHHH! BLOOD! IT'S MY BLOOD!!" Gaara shouts after a little while. Nii-san tries to force his arm out, but he can't. This forces him to do the same jutsu to let his arm free from the sand. An arm follows Sasuke as he releases his arm, but returns back after a few seconds. Now I can sense the tense feelings from Temari and Kankuro.
The sand dissolves downward and you can clearly see Gaara is injured. From what I've heard, that was impossible.
A feather appears in the middle of the arena, and that second, I can tell it's a genjutsu. So I release myself before I can fall under it. Almost all of us here fall into it, but not all.
A small explosion happens at the central watch tower, and all the attention goes there. Sand and Sound shinobi starts attacking while the Anbu members rush for the central watch tower where the Hokage and Kazekage are.
Temari and Kankuro rush for Gaara, while Shino and I rush for Sasuke.
You can clearly see the Kazekage and Hokage jump up from the cloud of smoke covering the central watch tower. Hokage-Sama has a kunai by his neck while Kazekage-Sama held him hostage. The two land on top of the central watch tower. The Anbu tries to get Hokage back, but four Sound ninja put up a barrier.
"Stop it, Gaara!" Temari shouts at Gaara. "I must kill them!" Shouts Gaara; 'them' meaning Sasuke and I. The two try to convince Gaara that there's no point in continuing the fight, but Gaara refuses. The man who took the three here to Konoha for the Chunin Selection Exams stops Gaara and tells them to head back because he'll handle us. Their conversation makes me wonder what their intentions are in the first place...
The three run off, but Genma says to us, "I'm sorry, but the Chunin Exams end here. Sasuke, Isamu, you two are already at chunin level; Shino, you go along with them. It's the real thing now, not a match." We don't try to disagree, and I lead them the way by following their chakra.
By the time we had started following them, they were already far ahead of us. I try to keep their chakra in my sense, but we have to move fast.
Now were not far from Gaara, Kankuro and Temari.
As we were getting closer to them, I look closely to some of the trees, and see a thread shine from the sunlight. Underneath it is a paper bomb. "Nii-san, stop! There's a trap!" I shout as Nii-san gets closer and I put my arm in front of Shino to stop him from going any further. Nii-san jumps a few metres back, so I throw a kunai at the spot I saw the thread. There's an explosion, so Shino, Sasuke and I hurry to try get around it without setting off other traps. Luckily, we get away without any injuries.
Three minutes pass, and the three come to a stop, and Temari tells Kankuro and Gaara to go ahead. The two leave, so it's us against Temari. Temari tries to attack us with her hug fan, so we try to dodge her attacks. This isn't such a good thing right now. Sasuke seems like he's saving his chakra for Gaara, I can't use my fire styled jutsu or else the wind will just put the flames out, and I don't know what Shino is thinking, but he's not trying to attack.
Sasuke does Fire Style: Pheonix Flower Jutsu, and it causes Temari to go down to the ground. Though without any injuries, she lands on her feet, and the flames for the Pheonix Flower Jutsu surround her. Nii-san does Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu, but Temari blows away the fire with her fan. What is Nii-san thinking? Fire styled jutsus won't really work with that huge fan of hers.
The wind causes Nii-san to dodge but fall down, and Temari jumps up to attack. As soon as temaris high enough, she throws kunai at Nii-san and it causes him to fall head down. I attack Temari with Wind Style: Aggressive Hawk Jutsu. Four hawks made of wind go down and attack Temari. Despite the hawks being made just of air and wind, their claws and beaks are sharper than a real hawk's claws and beak.
By the time Temari realizes whats headed for her, the hawks have already attacked her. Temari makes all four disappear into thin air by attacking them with her fan.
Nii-san's Substitution Jutsu explodes and causes Temari to fly back a few metres, and she now looks injured.
We leave as soon as we can while Temari is down for now. Shino leads the way with his bugs. We catch up not too long later, however, Temari shows up too. Temari apologizes for delaying us only for a few seconds, and Kankuro says that it's fine because every second counts for Gaara's recovery, and more chakra for us to waste.
"I've got this, Kankuro. Take Gaara out of here and run." Temari says. Kankuro steps ahead and says, "Temari, you take Gaara and go on ahead. You're all worn out; look at yourself. Go on, you'll only get in my way." He smirks. Temari tries to stop him, but Kankuro doesn't let her; so Temari takes Gaara and leave.
I say, "You two go ahead, I'll handle this guy." Shino stops me, "Hold on. I've got dibs on him first, Isamu. Sasuke Uchiha, Gaara is your opponent; your match was left unfinished. Well, I have similar unfinished business with Kankuro; because out match never even started. He's mine, leave him to me." I nod as Sasuke and I leave. Shino's last sentence cause me to think of it as a sexual kind of way... Though, it's only because he speaks the same way to me as he usually does with others; weird. I mentally face palm myself and force myself to get serious.
Nii-san tells Shino to be sure he's fine, and Shino replies with, "It's okay, I'm gonna be fine. Just give me ten minutes, and I'll check on your fight." I swear if something seriously bad happens to Shino or he doesn't survive, I'm gonna make Kankuro pay.
We leave as soon as the conversation ends, and I keep Temari's chakra in my senses to follow her and Gaara. "Nii-san, they've come to a stop." I say as I lead the way and we hurry. We get there as soon as Gaara pushes Temari to a tree. Gaara and Sasuke glare. "We have no idea what scene you Sand ninja clowns are up to, but we'll stop it. No matter what it is." Sasuke continues, "Besides, I'm dying to see what you really are." Gaara has another migraine, caused his sand armour to crack more.
Temari tries to convince him to stop it and to remember what their mission is. "We're so alike, Sasuke Uchiha. But I don't have friends; they're not what makes you strong. It's your purpose that does it; in that way, we're alike. You... But mine is the stronger purpose. Only by destroying you, will I feel alive. Only by killing you and your brother can I know what life is." Gaara said. His words make me narrow my eyes, and get chakra ready.
"You... You are my... You are my prey!" Gaara said as his arm transformed into an arm of a sand demon's. Along with his arm, so was half of his face transformed. So this is partially what the Shukaku looks like. I've heard about it, but I've never seen it before.
Gaara jumps to attack us, but we get away from that spot. "Why do you brothers hide? Do I frighten you? Are you shocked by my true form? Come out, come out, Sasuke and Isamu Uchiha! To live, I must kill! You are my prey!" Gaara shouted.
Sasuke tries to attack, but Gaara doesn't let him; it was a shadow clone. Both of us try attacking with kunai, but they don't work. The kunai sink in, and come out to attack us. We dodge each one.
I hid behind a tree, and think. This isn't many ways we can defeat him. Unless we figure out something. I quickly go to Nii-san, so Gaara won't see me, and as I get beside him, he pulls out a kunai. He puts in back in his pouch when he realizes it's just me. "Nii-san, we have to use jutsu to attack Gaara. I don't think any weapons will harm him. What was that jutsu you did earlier at the arena?" I say as I hear Gaara trying to persuade us to attack him. Sasuke nods and answers, "That was Chidori. Kakashi-Sensei taught it to me during training last month, but the most I can do it in one is twice. Otherwise, I can die."
Sasuke has already used it once today. He can only use it one more time... Unless he activates the curse mark, then maybe it'll work. But it'll be risky.
Finally, an idea comes to mind, and I tell Nii-san. He nods as goes out of hiding.
I peak on them, and see what's going on. It looks like Gaara remembering something. And whispers, "Why do you always run away?" Us run away? He's the one who left the arena to run...
Gaara looks at Sasuke, "So you've finally decides to come out of hiding. What happened to all of your hatred? Where's your little brother? Is he too scared to come out and play? Don't tell me Isamu Uchiha is already done for?"
What's Nii-san doing? Why isn't he going with the plan?
The two charge at each other. Sasuke does the Chidori, and as they pass one another, they try to attack. Both have made it to a nearby branch. Gaara's arm is in half from Chidori. I quickly do the hand signs for FireWind: Dance Of The Fire Dragonflies, and attack Gaara once Sasuke gets away from him. Though this time, I put all five into one to create a huge dragonfly. It doesn't work as much as I thought it would.
"I see, so that's what it is. Now it's clear of why I was looking forward to this. You are truly making me feel alive!" Gaara shouted with the most happiness I've seen of him so far.
I try doing the FireWind: Dance Of The Fire Dragonflies Jutsu, but this time I put more wind into this than fire. Again, I put all five into one dragonfly, but this isn't as big as the others when all five were combined. Because this time, there's more of the wind element than the fire element. I control it to attack Gaara quickly, and it looks as if the armour weakens. It doesn't look all weakened, but it looks more weakened than earlier.
He gets back off the ground, and sand starts to form a tail. "Sasuke, I think I know what it is; it's the one-tailed, Shukaku. It's a biju just like the nine-tailed fox. If it is, we've got to carefully deal with Gaara. If not, than we might die before we ever get to see Itachi again. Not to mention Shino..." He nods.
Gaara attacks once again, but he's faster. Both of us activate out Sharingan, and dodge his attacks. Sasuke does Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu, and I attack with Wind Style: Aggressive Hawk Jutsu, and make sure that they get to Gaara before the fireball. Due to the hawks getting to Gaara first, I was able to get about four nine-inched radius holes into the ball of sand that Gaara was using as a shield, and the fireball gets fire into the holes, but it doesn't affect Gaara that much.
Sasuke and I dodge Gaara's attack as he came forward.
"Is that it? Is that all you brothers can do? That's truly pathetic. Your hatred, it's we-" Gaara said. He stopped midway through as I did Wind Style: Heated Dragon Slicer Jutsu. An arboreal lizard similar to the 'flying dragon' made of hot air attacks Gaara with it's membranes that are very sharp like a newly made sword. The dragon-like lizard causes armour of Gaara's sand to fall off, while the transformation of the Shukaku slows down.
"Ooohhh, you seem quite stronger than your older brother." Gaara said as he faced me. I look him in the eyes, and see the same loneliness and pain my brother and I have been through. Though, my best guess is that his loneliness and pain is caused by the biju inside of him; just like Naruto.
Now Gaara is aiming for me. With the Wind Style: Demonic Kunai Jutsu, I make a kunai that is ten times bigger than your usual kunai, and throw it to Gaara. He covers himself with his transformed arm, and it looks like it goes halfway throw. However, the kunai disappears into thin air. From the back, Sasuke attacks Gaara once more with the Chidori, and just misses his heart. The Chidori got through to Gaara transformed arm, and it breaks off. Although, Gaara's real arm is still attached.
Sasuke had to use the curse mark to help him out with Chidori. He falls down as soon as Gaara other arm transformed. Ah man, this is such a drag. And from my thoughts, I'm guessing I hang out with Shikamaru too much nowadays.
Gaara takes the advantage of Sasuke being down and goes to attack. I hurry to get up and attack Gaara with Ninja Art: Piercing Iron Claws Jutsu. All ten of my fingernails transform into fifteen inched tiger claws made of iron, and I go straight for Gaara's chest. I am really face to face with Gaara, and there's a chance that I might miss and be the one that gets killed.
The attack works, and I bring Gaara back to a tree. "Don't lay a land on my brother! Do that, and the transformation of the Shukaku will never be completed!" I yell as I pin Gaara back.
My fingernails return to normal, and I jump back to the branch Sasuke is on, and I see Naruto beside him. "Awesome jutsu you did there, Isamu! When did you learn that?!" Naruto asked sounding astonished. I answer, "Not too long after we got out into our assigned squads. By the way, thanks for trying to help protect my brother. And sorry for stealing your spotlight, I didn't want my Nii-san getting too injured." "Ah no, it's fine; if it were Sasuke trying to protect you, I think Sasuke wouldn't be able to be that much of a good defence. It's better than your brother getting killed. You would be the last Uchiha in the village!" Naruto said, I decide to let this pass because he reminded me of my parents being dead...
Though, Sakura got wide-eyed and punched Naruto in the head. I'm not sure if it were because of Naruto saying Sasuke wouldn't be so good a defence, or Sasuke being dead... Come to think of it, it would not turn out so good because I would not be able to... Well... You know... Men can't get pregnant...
Gaara gets up, but it looks like he's injured. The transformation has stopped for now; so it looks. And I feel like I'm almost drained out of energy and chakra. "Protect... Sasuke... Please." I said before I passed out due to not much chakra and my injuries from earlier.
