She groaned in pain and a snicker could be heard from the trees as a response. Her head was a throbbing and the world spinning and blurry. At first, Aurora thought she might be hallucinating, seeing as she hit her head pretty hard. But the snicker soon turned into boisterous laughter. The world came into focus and she was greeted by a pair of red eyes. She was startled and took shuffled back a step. Seeing her reaction, the mysterious person only erupted into more laughter. She heard branches snap as if that person was rolling on the ground in hysterics. The person gradually calmed down and sounds of fabric ruffling were heard. A tenor voice spoke “Look what the cat dragged in.” Then a figure emerged from the shadows.
A person with a lean frame stood near the trees with his hand on his hip. His face obscured by the foliage. The individual chuckled, voice silky smooth. The clouds parted overhead and showed the waxing moon. The moonlight shone upon the individual. Lighting up his pale skin, revealing his thin waist and broad shoulders. Clothed by a long robe black as obsidian. A condescending smirk spread across his face. The moonlight shine overhead and realization hit Aurora like a truck. She looked like an idiot with her mouth hanging open and eyes almost bulging out of her sockets. This person was the most notorious troublemaker in the entire school, Cyrus Stone. Also the most popular guy in school, known for his flirty, mischievous, easy-going and lively personality and devilishly handsome looks. Everyone stops what they are doing and gawks at Cyrus whenever he strides through the corridors with poise. Guys and girls alike blush whenever he so much so glances their way and faint whenever one of his smiles were directed at them. They even sigh longingly whenever they talked about him. Aurora never saw Cyrus, until now that is. His jet black, waist length hair sways left and right as he encircles Aurora, examining her, who was frozen in shock. “What is the model student of our academy doing sneaking out of the campus?” Cyrus enquired with a playful lilt in his voice, shaking his head and tutting in disapproval. “You should be ashamed of yourself for breaking the rules.” “Then shouldn’t you also be ashamed? You are outside the campus too?” Aurora snapped. “Well we are different. I am the rascal who has no dignity and doesn’t know shamelessness. And you are the epitome of a fuddy duddy. “ Cyrus explained all while preening himself for his retort. Just as their conversation ended, shouts of the guards could be heard in the distance. Cyrus gave her a smug look and it was in that moment that Aurora realized that it was him who had called the guards on her with the Student Safety Alarm they carried at all times for emergency purposes. The alarm was silent so Aurora was not aware when he had pressed it. He tossed the alarm on the floor and teased “Until next time, Ms Perfect.” He winked before flipping his hair and disappearing into the night, leaving Aurora flabbergasted. Either the other students at school were too blinded by love or his beauty that they didn’t know or chose to ignore it or Cyrus was two-faced, but nobody told her that he was the biggest jerk ever. She had mere moments to ponder before her throat was trapped by four swords directed at her. “Come with us.” The guards calmly told her. Aurora was vaguely aware she didn’t have her uniform on and with her black cloak looked like an intruder. She concealed her nervousness and followed them with no complaint.
