Taehyung sat in the living room, nervously chewing on his fingernails, looking outside the window every single second to see if Jungkook had pulled up and finally came back to their dorm.It had his heart beating outside of his chest since it's been almost a month since he'd last seen him. He talked to Jessi on the phone this morning, and she finally told him some good news.
That Jungkook wanted to see him and talk to him, which Taehyung didn't know what to do or think.
He missed Jungkook so much he felt like there was a constant ache in his chest. Jessi told him that he attended his therapy session yesterday evening, which had Taehyung breathing out in relief.
Finally, his wounds will start to heal. Taehyung thought.
Jessi told him that it went well and that he was actually looking forward to attending his appointments every week. However, his first appointment was very emotional and embarrassing, according to what Jungkook had told Jessi.
He was bawling his eyes out within the first minutes, and his therapist had calmly given him a box of tissues, encouraging him to elaborate on his feelings and pour out all of his worries to her.
Which was a fucking relief to Jungkook. Finally, he got to get all of his anger and resentment of fear instead of bottling it all inside until he went super volcano on someone.
Taehyung was so deep into his thoughts about Jungkook that he didn't even notice him coming through the door.
Jungkook opened the door slowly and carefully, so quietly that Taehyung didn't notice his existence yet, and when Jungkook saw Taehyung sitting so peacefully on the couch like that, he felt the tears coming back.
It was nighttime, and Taehyung was sitting on the couch, waiting for him to come home.
"Taehyung?" Jungkook asked tentatively.
Taehyung then jumps in his seat. He turns his head and looks at Jungkook over his shoulder, and freezes.
Taehyung just stares at him for a long few seconds before he finally speaks, "Jungkook... you're here."
Jungkook can't speak. He just stares.
He doesn't notice how long. He stands there like a deer caught in the headlights. He worries Taehyung because he slowly gets up from the couch and starts to walk towards him now.
"Jungkook..?" Taehyung closes the distance between them and places his hands on Jungkook's chest in a comforting manner.
Jungkook's eyes shine with unshed tears, and Taehyung wonders if it is just the trick of the eye, a mere illusion, but it doesn't go away after he blinks a few times.
"Hey, are you alright?"
No, Jungkook thinks. He's not alright.
Shaking his head, Jungkook lowers his gaze, so it's no longer connected to Taehyung. He releases a pent-up shaky breath.
"Say something.. " Taehyung says in a strange cold voice that doesn't belong to him. "You have to say something after leaving me for weeks like this"
Jungkook looks back up at him with a pained smile on his lips, and it's a miracle that he even finds his voice to speak, "I-I'm just.... I'm so happy to see you, Tae," he muttered.
The hands-on Jungkook's chest drifts up, so they're caressing his face instead. "I'm happy to see you too, baby," Taehyung tells him, "and I want you to know that you can trust me. Nothing is going to make me leave."
"A-Are you sure?" Jungkook blurted out without thinking.
Jungkook's response punches Taehyung right in the gut. He doesn't like the hint of helplessness underlining the words or the disbelief in the other's gaze.
