"Mateo! Are you up?" Dad called out for him while he was fixing the oven

“Yeah” I answered as I walked out with my backpack and dressed for school; I decided to wear something simple just a regular blue button up shirt an black pants

“Aw look at my handsome boy” Dad gushed and moved out of the oven and walked closer to me, He then placed his arm around my neck and hugged me close

“Dad” I said with a red blush embarrassed

“What? It’s your first day of your new life” Dad told me and walked back to the oven and continued the repairs

“It’s just school” I shrugged and grabbed an apple

“Trust me collage is way different than highschool” Dad told me with his head still in the oven

“Yeah…”I sighed and headed to the door but looked back to dad seeing him come out of the oven and wipe the grease off his hands and forehead

“Do you have to fix the oven now? You haven’t even had breakfast” I asked dad while opening the door

“Well unless you want to blow up and have the house catch on fire; I should fix it now” Dad jokes

“I’m not gonna blow up dad” I said rolling my eyes with a smile and walked out and took the elevator down and started his walk to the bus stop

While walking he grabbed his phone and started texting my best friend/ only friend Lidia; She told me to text her when I head to school so I could tell her everything since she couldn’t enroll herself.

I couldn’t help but feel guilty; My original plan was to do online school but my dad eventually talked me out of it in favor of actually going to the building and becoming more social and trying new things.

However the thought of doing it alone makes me even more nervous; In highschool I planned to go to the same school as Lidia so I could just spend time with her like I did in highschool.

But since Lidia ended up having Penny; She couldn’t afford nor did she have time to go to school; She decided to do some online classes and get her degree in teaching but it wasn’t the same and we both knew that.

I got on the bus and stared at the window, My anxiety started rising, As well got closer and closer to my new school.

I started second guessing my decision and wanted to stop the bus and just go back home.

But I couldn't, I couldn't handle the disappointment I'll see in dad's voice or hear in Lidia's voice when I tell her I once again choose the safe way out.

We stopped at the school and I walked out along with the other passengers and possible new classmates.

I took a deep breath and walked on my new college campus that was filled with new booths wanting to welcome new people to their clubs and people talking and getting to know each other.

"Okay...let's do this" I told myself and walked on campus for the first time alone
