It was a rainy day at the big apple, I snatch my umbrella and my coat and hurried out of my apartment not without grabbing my portfolio. I was in New York City, that means there will be a lot of traffic. But even that couldn't stop me from heading my way, especially when I wasn't in a really great mood , I had to reach Alexander Gèroux, he was in the big apple for a runway of his new collection and I just needed to reach him and show him my designs. That's all I'm asking.
It was quite an experience my run through the streets. My umbrella broke and I needed to put it away if I didn't want to take my own eyes out. The sky was falling, but that didn't stop tourist to come out and explore the city -in other words get wet-, it was almost impossible to walk through them. But I made my way, with curses and dirty looks but I quite reach the hotel Mr. Gèroux was staying just in time.
A lithe but quite muscular man wearing a black suit was walking through the doors surrounded by three layers of people, the closest ones were bodyguards -which were quite big-, in the middle paparazzi, their camera's flashes covering the whole place, and far aback, fans.
Don't ask me how, but I made my way through the fans and paparazzi. I couldn't hear anything but, "Mr. Gèroux, can you talk about your new collection?' 'Can you tell us what do you think of the things Mr. Reyold had to say about you?'.
A balck SUV was parked in the street, everything was up for Mr. Gèroux' depart to the Spring's Love Gateway. The rain was getting heavier, some lightning slashed through the sky. It wouldn't be that safe to drive in this weather really.
As I think this the management seemed to be wandering that looking up at the sky, meanwhile I was stuck arguing with a tall, muscly bodyguard that continued saying "stand back" without even hearing what I was saying.
This management guy or whatever he actually do with Alexander Gèroux, approached Alexander, who was giving some autographs to some fans. He tried to whisper his worried but through all the noise Alexander didn't seemed to understand, so the management guy shouted this time, a little tense I guess. "We cannot drive you in these weather! And even if we did you would never arrived at time!"
I swear I could hear a pin drop, well not really, the storm didn't stop -it didn't care about that gateway, that so important and traditional gateway-. But everyone did, even the paparazzi. Which if you think about it has to be quite a biggie to make them shut their mouth.
Gèroux's face was what you describe to be speechless, trying to articulate words with his mouth. But nothing came from it.
I look up at the bodyguard. "Look, I just need to talk to him. That's all I'm asking." I said, as quiet as I could. Maybe that's the reason he didn't turn, he was awestruck looking at Gèroux and the management guy, who was quite strange, Gèroux with his mouth half-open and the management guy looking like the Earth will eat him alive.
And I didn't had patience with me anymore. "Hey big guy! I'm wasting my time here! I just need to talk to Mr. Gèroux, that's all! Can you just move from the way!" I shouted. Being the first one to talk in these, 'crime scene'. Turning every single eyeball toward me, of course the big guy bodyguard turn to me and it was the most creepy and scary thing in the fact that I was like 2 inches away from him. Fans, camera's lenses, bodyguard, the man that was passing by, had their attention on me -I was still looking at the bodyguard who refuse to move- and somehow, Alexander Gèroux attention was on me too.
The silence broke immediately, fans shouting, paparazzi snapping more pictures with questions alongside. The bodyguard told me to move it and suck it. Which I snap back with a not so nice words, but then Alexander Gèroux was behind the bodyguard. His black hair was comb back and his watery eyes looking pass the bodyguard to me, he looked so tiny beside the big guy. "I'm sorry, Jared, but can you confirm me something? This lady is trying to talk me?" he asked the big guy, Jared, with a rather raspy voice.
"She is nothing more than a crazy fan." And he should had watched out for his words.
"Crazy fan your pants, and let's not start talking about yourself, darling because I don't even know you and I already know who the hell you think you are." I snap back at him.
"Woah, woah. Jared, I'm pretty upset with you." he said to him and turn to me. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, would you like to enter? Perhaps change your wardrobe and get some snack? And then you can can tell me the reason you wanted to talk to me. I promise." He said, I heard he was known to be such a gentleman talker but I never actually though it was truthful.
I walked through the hotel's door, I've never been in a five star hotel so it was quite an adventure for me.
