"When did you become so impatient?" She joked.
"It's just that it seemed important; and I'm curious."
"Well, I guess I have no other choice." She sighted, she looked nervous.
"After regaining my memories, I thought about losing you like I had lost you in the game and just the thought of that made me feel empty." She paused, then continued. "What I mean is that I always thought that I should just keep my feelings to myself, especially if it involved someone from work, but I realised how unexpected life can be sometimes." She paused again.
"Ji yeong, I like you." That left me speechless.
Did I hear that right?
Is she playing with me?
"It's, okay you don't have to say anything. I just wanted to get it off of my chest, so I won't regret it later."
How is someone supposed to react to your crush confessing that they like you?
I'm supposed to be excited, to be crying or to be confused?
Why am I malfunctioning, now?
"Ji yeong? Are you okay? I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." She lowered her head.
"I'm sorry, I didn't respond. It's just that I don't know what to say." Why am I crying.
"Ji yeong! Are you okay?" She asked worried, taking my hand.
"It's just that I don't know what to say. I have liked you since the beginning but I never imagined that you would ever like me too."
"Wait, you like me?" She smiled cutely.
"Wait, so is this a date?"
"I guess we could say that." I was smiling a lot and my heart was beating so fast that I thought that the whole building could hear it.
The rest of the dinner we spent talking about random things and work and from time to time we silently enjoyed our food.
When we finally finished eating, she kept insisting on paying.
"Come on, let me pay. I was the one who insisted on inviting you."
"Maybe but you always pay everytime we go out. So let me pay this time." After thinking about it for a while, she eventually gave in and let me pay.
Not much later we left the restaurant and we decided that taking a taxi was the best way to go.
The whole ride in the automatic car, Sae byeok held my hand. It seemed that our hands were made exactly for each other.
Eventually, the ride came to an end when we arrived in front of my apartment. We both got off the car, now it was time to say goodbye at least for tonight. We faced each other ready to say goodbye.
She was saying something that I couldn't make out because I was so focused on every perfect detail of her face.
"Ji yeong, are you okay?"
"Can I kiss you?" She looked startled at my sudden question but she didn't hesitate long and she pulled me toward herself. Our lips connected and quickly we got synchronised.
Unfortunately I ran out of air and had to pull away.
"Wow." She said, I smiled.
Then out of nowhere we burst out laughting like stupid teenagers in love.
If my past self saw me like that I'm sure she would cringe, considering how emo I was back then.
"Now, I really have to go though. I'll see you at work." She was smiling from ear to ear and I wasn't that different either.
