She was at his grave again. It was past midnight and freezing in Rivendale. She wasn't really used to the cold, the everlasting chill of the Empire somehow made her more miserable. The owls were sitting on her shoulder, they all seemed to like her for some reason. They probably thought their owner was on a vacation, or maybe they knew he died. Owls are pretty smart, especially his. He trained them very well.
Shelby reached over to pet one of the fluffy owls, Owen, she thought he named it. It didn't matter, all his owls names were pretty much the same, they all began with an O. She remembered when he would bring her into the Owl Barn and list off all the owls names, it did go in one ear and out the other.
She wished she remembered the owls names
She wished she listened when he told her
She wished she asked him to build the embassy
She wished Xornoth wasn't freed
She wished she could build a better grave and not this makeshift thing
She wished Scott hadn't died in the first place. She wished it would rain. It always rained in the movies when the hero died. It was like the sky itself was weeping at the loss of life, but it simply stayed the same here. There was no rain, just the regular cold. Scott was a hero, he deserved a better send off then this.
She sighed, it would probably be better to head back to the Undergrove. She strapped on her elytra silently. She heard a noise behind her but ignored it, assuming it was an owl or one of his deer that grazed around.
All of a sudden, a cheery Scottish voice rang through the night silence "Hi!"
(A/N: Sorry this one was so short, I just really wanted to kickstart the plot lol)
