Joe sat on his bedroom floor, a sharpie in one hand and a couple of pencils in the other. His room was a mess, the desk chair now being swallowed by a fluffy skirt and multiple different kinds of cat ears. The room was pitch dark and he had a night vision camera set up facing him.
He leaned forward to press record, then sat back down on his knees. He took a deep breath.
"Hey YouTube... My name is Joe Baughls and this is my first video."
He winced at the sound of his voice. It would have to work, he wasn't going to record this for a third time. His cat ears jingled. It was tough being a catboy.
"Today I'm gonna be doing the Charlie Charlie challenge on this piece of paper in front of me. It's past midnight right now, hopefully late enough at night for ghosts to mess with me." He drew a plus sign on the page, dividing it into 4 sections. With the sharpie, he carefully wrote yes on two diagonal sections and no on the remaining ones. He laid one pencil down in the center of the page and balanced the other one on top. Joe sat back on his knees again, glancing up at the camera.
"Charlie Charlie, are you there?" Joe asked in a quiet voice. Nothing happened. He tried again, this time a little louder. "Charlie Charlie, are you there?"
The pencil didn't move, no matter how many times Joe asked. He sat back again and ruffled his skirt. "It looks like Charlie Charlie really isn't here. Sorry to disappoint you guys. Thanks for watching!" He leaned forward and turned off the camera.
An hour later, Joe was getting ready to send the video to his friend who agreed to edit the video for him, Trip.
"What is this? You can't post this, Joe. It doesn't even have Charlie Charlie in it. Plus, you didn't even do it at 3am, which everyone knows is the time you're supposed to do it," Trip responded to Joe's email.
"I was supposed to do it at 3am? I think I'll just do something else for my first video. I'll impress you next time, I promise. Sorry this video didn't turn out so well. Anyways, it's almost 1:30 in the morning here, and even later for you. We should go to bed," Joe responded, shutting his laptop and crawling under his bed sheets. Trip lived in Detroit, where it was 4:30 am.
As Joe fell asleep, he brainstormed ideas as to where his next challenge would be. He finally thought of the perfect idea, something that would put him on everyone's YouTube recommended.
