THE NEXT DAY - 3:39 PM

Joe sat in his champagne-coloured 2001 Toyota Corolla, picking at the polish chipping off his nails. The car smelled  like an old lady's purse, which made sense considering it used to be his grandmother's and was given to him when she got a better car.

He texted Trip. "Hey, I'm at the mini mall parking lot now. Where should I start the video?"

Trip sighed from his desk chair situated below his lofted bed. "Just start the video now, from your car. Explain what you're doing before you go to a store," he typed.

Joe put his phone in his pocket and pulled out his vlogging camera along with a few extra batteries to last him a while. He turned on the camera and started recording.

"What's up guys, welcome to the first ever video on the Catboy Joe channel! Today we are doing a 3 am challenge at one of these stores here." He pointed the camera to show the 5 stores in the mini mall. "We will be going to all 5 stores and trying to find a good hiding spot so that when the employees close the store tonight they don't see me hiding. Let's get started!"

Joe paced along the sidewalk connecting the 5 stores. He started on the far right one, the guitar store. Once he found a quiet corner of the small store he turned the camera on and started recording. "Alright guys, I'm at the guitar store right now. It's pretty small but there's no employees around right now to see me here. I think if I were to stay here when the store closes I would hide in this corner with all the amps."

He moved on to checking out the next store, the pet shop. As soon as he walked in, some of the birds in cages along the wall started chirping at him. He turned on the camera. "As you guys can see, these birds are chirping at me, so it would be pretty obvious that I'm here. I don't think I can stay here."

The next store he went to was the makeup store in the middle of the row of shops. Before he went in, he peered through the glass door to see if there was anyone around to see him record himself walk in the door.

"Ahh!" Joe yelped involuntarily when he saw the face of a middle-aged woman look back at him though the glass. There was no way he was going in there now. Too many employees keeping a close eye on him.

The last 2 stores, a small clothing boutique and a grocery store, were both closed. Joe's only option would be the guitar store.
