Chapter 1: You’re The Only Special Person In My Life
(Kenichi's POV)
I’ve just came home from my girlfriend’s house and I am stress out.
“I’m home,” I said with a bored tone.
Aya run to the front, and greet me, “Welcome home, big bro.”
Aya have an apron on. Seems like she was fixing up dinner. She looks so cute in that frail apron. I wish she wear just the apron so I can- No, no, no! Don’t think that!
I smile and kiss Aya on the forehead. “What’s for dinner?”
“I’m making your favorite,” Aya say with an innocent smile.
“Aw, sweet!” I love that kid.
Ever since our parents pass away, I took the responsibility to take care of Aya by myself. We live in a two bedroom apartment, and the apartment was a steal thanks to rental control. The landlady is a kind woman in her early 30s. Whenever I was out, she always keeps Aya company for me. She said it was the least she can do for us since she’s friend with my mom, well, my step-mom. Oh, right. Almost forgot about that fact. Aya is not really related to me by blood, but by marriage.
Aya’s mom was a sweet and kind young woman, about a few years younger than my dad. She was really sweet. She may not be my real mom, but that didn’t give me a reason to not like her. She made my dad happy. If my dad was happy then I was happy too. The first time I have a play date with Aya was when our parents went out to a private dinner. I admit, whenever I’m around Aya, I couldn’t stop staring at her. She was so cute, so adorable. Whenever she giggled at me, I froze with my cheeks heat up. The moment when I couldn’t stop thinking about her, I realize how much I like her. Her overall presence lightened up my mood, and gave me joy no matter what happen around us.
My feelings for Aya today has not changed since our first play date. No one knows about my true feelings except the landlady.
During dinner, I didn’t eat much even though Aya made my favorite curry and udon dish.
“Big bro, what’s wrong?” Aya asked with concern.
I look at Aya with a reassuring smile. “It’s nothing.” I didn’t really want to talk about my problem.
“You look sad,” Aya said as she continues to notice my bad mood.
“I do not,” I disagreed.
“Did something happen to you and Mina?” Aya asked.
“No,” I lied.
“Big bro-” Aya was cut off.
“There’s nothing to worry about; I’m fine,” I said reassuringly, but I knew that was a lie. Please stop, please stop. Don’t talk about her anymore.
Thankfully, Aya give up on the topic. “…Okay…”
It was silence for a while until Aya decided to break off the silence.
“Oh yeah! I have my first date today!”
First date? What?! Of course, I try to keep myself from shouting. “With who?” I asked calmly.
“Akira,” Aya replied.
Akira huh. I knew him. I don’t like him. Why? Because ever since Aya enter the same high school as I, I was hoping I get to spend time with her. But, much to my dismay, Akira just has to show up and steal Aya away from me. I know I’m her brother, but we’re not blood related. It doesn’t matter just because it says on the paper. “You mean that kid that you always hang out with at school?”
