SNOW'S POV

The constant water drops from the burst pipe kept reminding me that I had limited time. The throbbing pain in my body had died down a few notches, my swollen eye lids could lift a few inches and the constant wardrums in my head had stopped. The imbecile watching me at gun point flashed a rotten toothy smile at me.

"What's your name soldier?" I asked, treading lightly.

He looked at me for some good seconds without uttering any word. I already knew his name but at the moment, he could also be my escape route out of this place.

Seconds turned into minutes and not even a single word from him. I heaved silently and worked my brains for better ideas.

"Nicolai"

A thick accent flooded the empty space.

"My name is Nicolai" he finally answered.

"Married??" I asked.

"No" he answered dryly.

It was no surprise he was unmarried. A cold hearted soldier was all he could be.

"Why?? You don't like women??" I asked again, testing the waters.

He looked at me with long and hard, adjusting the riffle strapped to his side.

"Look I don't know what you want to achieve with all this but I will not deny a dying man some company" he mocked with a laugh.

He drew a chair to his side and sat comfortably, crossing his legs in front of me.
His sick smile transformed to a lopsided grin "I like women, a lot but I think I'd like a taste of your new catch, probably after Richard is done for himself" he smiled.

Hot white rage pummeled through my veins. I wanted to snap his neck, the binds on my wrist bit into my flesh, drawing blood.

"Can I get a smoke?" I asked out of the blue.

Shock registered on his face at my sudden request.

"Sure" he shrugged.

His hands reached for his pockets and he drew out a pack of cigarettes, he stopped in front of me and placed it in my lips "no honor like serving a dying man" he mock saluted.

He was about to strike the lighter when we heard sounds coming from the other side of the wall.

"Did you hear that?" He asked quirking his bushy brows at me.

"Hear what??" I asked, feigning ignorance.

"Shhhhhh" he commanded and stauntered slowly to where the sound was coming from.

The room grew quiet, just the smell of adrenaline in the air. He wiped his palms on his trousers and gripped the weapon tightly. Seconds ticked by, then the shuffling of feet came again.
There was no fore hand warning as the wall blew, the impact sending Nicolai a few feet away and knocking me off from the chair.

A loud ringing noise followed suit, dust and smoke clouded the space.

"Is he still alive??" A familiar voice sounded from a distance

Boot cladded feet rushed towards my direction, the binds on my wrist and legs broke loose in a flash.

"Yes ma'am" one of them replied.

The ringing in my ears stopped and the blurry images in the room began to register clearly.

"Good to see you boss"
