When I regained all my senses and gathered my conciousness, it took me a long moment to remember what just happened and why Joan beside me, both of us falling into deep darkness. Except that I can't FEEL like I'm falling...just feels like we are in an elevator slowly going down.
"Oh great...," I heard Joan mutter. "Finally someonw to talk to!" What does she mean?
"What, wait...How long was I out?" I asked, dreading for the answer.
"20 mintues at the most," She shrugged. Then that means we've been here for a long time!Without thinking I pulled out my wand to do something to get us out of here, but Joan stopped me.
"Don't bother," She told me, putting a hand over my wand,"I've tried a million times but nothing works. No effect. This place must be...must have a force field for magic."I groaned loudly. How was I able to find James if these stuff kept happening? First the shaking gound then now this! What was next?
"Well then what are we supposed to do?" I asked.
"Wait and just--
"Oh!" I cried out loudly, suddenly remembering something. The Mirror. Both my hands doesn't have it now. I scanned the place but it was useless; my eyes have not even adjusted with the darkness. "The Mirror--
"It's here, it's here.." Joan pulled out the silvery mirror which glinted in the darkness--I attached a small flashlight at the back last time. I sighed of relief and took it from her...Then all the visions I saw came rushing back into my brain. I examined the Mirror as if expecting another vision, but then there was a kind of force field. Joan fidgeted beside me, probably nervous that I had seen it...Yes, it was suspicious--who was the figure, where were they, and what was that piece of paper she gave? But for now I decided not to mention it, I didn't feel like meddling with her past life. I have to concentrate on getting my brother back.
Which reminds me--
"Joan, any idea on what happened back there in the room?"
She shook her head then said,"No, and I can't say this is some prank anymore. Too dangerous and complicated to do. Whoever did this could've wanted to threat you...or warn you or something.""Who would want to threaten me? And there's nothing to warn me for," I reasoned out.
"Could've been...maybe it was--
"Ellie?"
"No...Why would she do that? She took James and what's her purpose of doing this? If she was the one who did this, then she might even give us clues of where James is. And I think she's smart enough to know that."
"Why would you say she's smart?" I asked innocently.
She gave a vague shrug. "Dunno, based on Grazilda's story you told me about, I guess she's pretty clever." She replied quickly. Then again it seems like she was hiding something. I put that thought put of my head."Unless...." Joan said then trailed off. It's like we were never gonna stop falling.
"Unless what?" I asked eagerly.
"If maybe Ellie took James for a trade, then she MIGHT be the one who did this. Maybe." Joan just had this tone right now that makes her look suspicious, and I can't find a reason of why she wanted to hide anything from me.
"What do you mean?"
"Perhaps Ellie took James because she wanted to trade with you. Maybe...you have something she has been wanting, and she knew she couldn't have it by just randomly asking for it. So...she took James, thinking that you, of course, love you brother very much, and would give anything to get him back." She swallowed nervously for some reason.I nodded, agreeing with every word she said.
"But what is it that I have that she wants so very badly? To the point she has to kidnap James?"
"I don't know. Could be--But I never knew what it could be, because there was something different with the feeling of this falling right now...
We were on land.
We stopped slowly falling.
Both Joan and I, not daring to speak, for we didn't know who could be here, watching us, slowly got to our feet to see where we are.
It didn't help much because it was still very dark, and I almost even tripped on Joan.
Then suddenly something changed. There was light. Very, very bright light coming from I don't know. I shielded my eyes and Joan started scanning the environment.
Then I heard Joan gasp. "Catherine, we're under the sea!"
