The next morning she woke up tired. She had finally fallen asleep again, but her dreams were haunted by Adam, his changing eyes and a wolf. The wolf was both beautiful and frightening at the same time, but somehow it felt very familiar.

After a delectable breakfast, during which she was painfully aware of Adam's absence, and three cups of refreshing coffee, she walked determinedly through the town to the garage. As soon as her car was fixed, she could say her thanks and leave this town behind her; a town which, despite wanting to leave, felt so like home to her. She did not want to think about the man she would be leaving behind, or the feelings he had aroused in her. She had to focus on her goal to find her sisters and not let herself be distracted.

Arriving at the garage, she waited for Sam to come to her. Judging by his gaze, he did not have good news for her.

"Good news or bad news first?" he asked.

"Just give the bad first," she said firmly.

"So the bad news is, not only is your battery flat, but your brake pads are worn out and I don't have the necessary type here in the garage."

"Okay and the good news?"

"I have ordered all the necessary parts and they will be here within a week."

"And what will that cost me?" she asked distraught. "I have no money and I ..."

"Calm down, calm down. Alpha Adam has taken care of all that, don't worry about it. In our pack we take care of each other."

Idris threw her hands up in the air. "What's all this about the pack talk. I'm not part of your pack and I have to leave again."

Sam seemed startled by her outburst. "Alpha Adam said..."

"Alpha Adam has nothing to say about me. Where is he?"

"Euhm at the construction site." Idris continued to stare at him. "That's on the north side of the village." When she continued to stare at him, he pointed her in the right direction.

"Who knows automatically where the north side was," she muttered to herself as she walked in the direction he had pointed out. Once there, she walked onto the construction site looking for Adam. "Men always think they can just decide anything without talking to me about it. The bastard," she muttered to herself.

"Here's the bastard," a voice suddenly sounded behind her.

Startled, she turned around and everything she wanted to wish him disappeared like snow in the sun. A man in the prime of his life. Sweaty, muscular and dressed in work trousers, a black tank top and a yellow helmet, he looked like every woman's ultimate wet dream. She knew she was gawping at his body.

"And why am I a bastard?" he asked amused by her silence.

"Well... Well you are one," she stammered. After another amused look from him her anger flared and she finally found her words again. "Because you think that after a weird dream and a kiss that meant nothing, you can just arrange things without telling me. Who do you think you are? You have absolutely no say in my car or my life."

His eyes turned black again as menacingly he took a big step closer, so that her breasts were pressed against his chest. His scent intoxicated her, overpowering her senses and her body responded to his closeness. Her nipples became hard and her arousal caused her juices to flow.

His eyes turned blue again and he asked calmly, "A kiss that meant nothing?"

She swallowed and gathered all her courage. "Yes, the kiss was nice, but nothing more than that either."

His eyes changed to black and a low growl echoed from his throat, startling her into taking a step backwards. He immediately took another step forward. In this way they continued to perform a kind of tango until Idris stood with her back against a wall. He pressed his hard male body against her and bent his head forward to nuzzle her ear.

Adam sniffed her scent and whispered, "Your body betrays you. I can sense your arousal. I am sure that if I slipped my hand into your panties right now, you would be wet, completely ready for me. I would be able to claim you as mine right here and now and you would be able to think of nothing else but the pleasure I can give you."

His words sent a shiver through her treacherous body and she instinctively pressed herself closer to him. He ran his nose over her neck as if searching for a spot. Suddenly she felt something wet and soft. She gasped. He had licked her! Her vaginal muscles contracted and she wished she could feel that tongue on a certain part of her body down there.

"So don't you dare say that kiss meant nothing." His voice was so low she could hardly understand him, but she understood the message.

Her body wanted to surrender to him. She just wanted to let herself be completely dominated by him, but somehow her common sense came through. She tried to push him away, but he did not move an inch.

"Okay, the kiss didn't mean nothing, but I don't know what it did mean," she reluctantly admitted. She raised her chin and looked into his black eyes. "What it doesn't mean is that you can just arrange everything for me. I don't want charity. I can work for what I owe you and I want to pay for the work on my car."

His eyes turned blue again and an amused look appeared in them. He bent down and gently bit her neck causing another shiver to go through her body. "I do know a way to pay me."

She gasped and closed her eyes, hoping to shut out the sensations he was generating in her body. "I don't know what you're doing to my body and I want to find out, but I mean it Adam. I want to pay for the work on my car. Just as everyone here is doing their bit, I want to help too."

Suddenly he wasn't standing so close and slowly she opened her eyes. He stood before her with his arms crossed, as composed as he was a few minutes ago. She hated the fact that he didn't seem as affected by her as she was by him. After thinking for a moment, he nodded as if he had made up his mind.

"You can ask Conny to give you some chores to compensate for the work on your car." She opened her mouth to thank him, but before she could say anything, he continued. "That payment is something you do for the pack, as everyone here does their bit." He took another step closer and whispered in her ear, "The payment to me, for my hospitality, is something that will also be taken care of."

She shuddered but before she could respond, he had turned and walked away. Her whole body screamed at his absence. She had to use all her willpower not to chase after him and pounce on him in the middle of the yard. She bit her lip to hold back a moan, but she didn't quite succeed. As soon as the sound left her lips, she saw his back straighten and he walked on with the stance and ego of a man who knew exactly what effect he had on a woman.

"Bastard," she muttered and she heard his cheerful laughter echo.

She didn't understand the effect he had on her and why she felt she missed him when he had only walked a few metres. This is ridiculous, she thought. I am a strong independent woman and I don't need a man. I will prove that I can carry my own weight and that I can contribute.

Subconsciously, she was already starting to see herself as part of the pack that had taken her in like a family, but she also had her own family to think about.
