——-——-—— Chapter 3 ——-——-——
"Yeah, there is no need for you to come back early... Caleb will pick me up..." Noah could feel the nurse's nosy eyes on him, he leaned against the reception of the hospital with one of their phones pressed against his ear. His mother on the other line furious about the fact that she as a mother was expected to leave her business meeting in Tokyo early to take care of her son who got hit by a car.
"I fractured my ribs before; I can take care of myself." He tried not to sound too pissed of knowing his mom only put on an act so her colleges won't think she is a bad mother for staying. Her voice was high pitched and way to friendly, it reminded him of how these people in TV would talk when they tried to sell you a non-stick pan for 1$ if you call in the next five minutes.
She sounded exactly like that when she convinced the doctor Noah slipped and fell down the stairs when he fractured his ribs four years ago, she knew damn well her drunk ass husband pushed Noah but she didn't have enough time to deal with that so like several times before it was his clumsiness she blamed."Yes, I will call you twice a day"
She probably wouldn't pick up if he actually did.
A relived sigh left his lips as she finally hung up, Noah gave the phone back to the nurse sitting on the reception table.
It has been three days since he got hit by that car and he was finally allowed this hell-hole of hospital. The only good thing about this stay was that he finally had the time to change his emergency contact to Caleb. Sadly, only after his mother had already been informed about his condition.Speaking of Caleb.
Noah ran right into his friend on the way back to his room, Caleb's face caused Noah to clench his hands tightly into a fist. He still remembered the face he looked at right before being hit and the similarities Caleb shared with that person where undeniable.
They had the same grey eyes, the same long face, the same nose, lips, eyebrows and even the scar on their left cheek was identical.
The only difference had been the dirty blonde curls that always hung messily into Caleb's face, the drive had his hair shaved down completely.
Noah was wondering if he actually saw that person or if he was going insane. Everything seemed so unreal."I brought you clothes so you don't have to wear that shit from the hospital." Caleb leaned against the door of the sad plain hospital room Noah had stayed in for the past days, he raised the backpack in his hands quickly before entering.
Noah took a deep breath he didn't want to ask Caleb about what he had seen and heard just yet, not until he knew he hadn't been hallucinating. He followed his friend into the room and took the bag from him without saying anything, the quicker he could get back into his own clothes the better."You should have called earlier, I thought you were kidnapped or something." Noah could hear the fear in Caleb's voice as he said that.
"Sorry, I was pretty out of it because of the painkillers and couldn't remember your number."
"You're a dumbass, why did you even leave?"
"Don't ask me that, I don't remember a single thing." Noah bit the inside of his cheek, while Caleb helped him into a shirt. He didn't like lying right into Caleb's face.
Especially after he went out of his way to pick Noah up from the hospital."You sure, you don't wanna stay at mine?"
Noah had his hands pressed against his sides, lifting his arms had hurt more than expecting, the painkillers had faded and he could feel every single stich that held the cut along his waist together. The wired fence had saved him from several more broken bones but in return sharp ends had left an incredible deep cut along his waist down to his stomach behind.
Other than that, the impact had only fractured three of his ribs and gave him a gigantic deep purple and green bruise on the left side of his upper body.
Moving hurt pretty bad but Noah was happy that it wasn't anything more serious.
