Chapter 9: Beautiful Distance

Taeil moves in the last drawing board inside the storage room and locking the room like every other night. Wendy was already packing her stuff. She was about to ask if Taeil need a ride since she saw him taking a taxi in the morning but before she can ask, a soft knock on the door and a young familiar man opened the door with a smile on his face.

Donghyuck had been coming to the studio every night.

Wendy isn't really sure what kind of relationship Taeil had with Donghyuck but all she noticed is how loving Donghyuck eyes are whenever he looks at Taeil. Wendy warned Taeil about it only to be given a piece of shocking information about their relationship. They were an ex-boyfriend.

Joohyun, Wendy's girlfriend also had told her about Doyoung had been hanging out a lot with the journalist of a magazine her company worked a lot with. From the info that Joohyun heard from the other staff, they are actually dating.

Wendy was thinking to tell Taeil about it but he noticed that Taeil is doing the same thing. Wendy wonder if something bad happens to their marriage? The originally big mouth Wendy had her lips sealed because she was afraid of her words will lead to worse possibilities.

"I'll head out first," Wendy excuse herself, and Taeil smile as a reply.

"Donghyuckie is here," a high-pitched cute word from the young university student, Wendy catches before leaving the studio behind. They are definitely dating, Wendy making assumptions.

Taeil had been hanging out with Donghyuck every night for weeks now. Taeil had been pretty awkward with Doyoung and he wished to spend less time in his own apartment, also hoping Doyoung to fall asleep first so that he can sleep in the living room like he always does in the past week.

Around 3 am every night, Doyoung will move Taeil to his own bedroom though. Doyoung will sleep in the living room instead and it had been bothering Taeil a lot. He wakes up feeling guilty every morning but he can't help it. If he gets closer to Doyoung, he was afraid he couldn't control his own emotion and drown even deeper in the feeling he knows will ruin their friendship.

Doyoung never skipped making breakfast for Taeil, never skipped cooking for dinner, always cleaning the house, washing their clothes, ironing their clothes, acting like everything is fine. Sometimes he will visit Taeil in the bedroom before leaving for works. Unlike the kiss on the forehead he usually did, he only pats Taeil's head as he bid goodbye.

Taeil wished Doyoung could stop doing that because unknowingly, Taeil waited for the pat in the head every morning.

Donghyuck is a place where Taeil can forget about Doyoung. Donghyuck's bright personality and the exact opposite of Doyoung make Taeil crave for Donghyuck's company every day. He knows, it was wrong to use Donghyuck like that but he can't help it. Taeil doesn't even understand his own feeling.

"Burger?" Donghyuck asked as he park his mother's car in the parking lot near the burger place they visited almost every night for the past week.

After ordering their burger, they took a seat in their favourite spot. At the corner of the place, where people usually skipped. Donghyuck wanted privacy whenever he meets Taeil but Taeil seems like, he was putting up his guard. He didn't want to be alone with Donghyuck but he was very subtle about it.

Donghyuck heard from Jungwoo that Taeil marriage is fake. It was a piece of shocking but happy news to Donghyuck. He had been working hard so he can visit Taeil every day even if he had hundreds of assignments to finish. He missed the day when he was with Taeil, he missed every single thing about them.
