Dan couldn't quite believe that they were all sitting and eating lunch in Times Square. Against pretty much all odds, the dinky little glee club had made it to Nationals and New York.

"A year and a half ago the New Directions were nothing but a group of six misfits stumbling their way through a horrific rendition of Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat," Kurt told them all. "Now here we are at the top of the show choir heap. Nationals!"

"And it truly was horrific," Dan muttered, chuckling as she remembered the choreography and white gloves her brother had shown her.

"I want to hit up Central Park, get my frolic on," Tina declared.

"I want to throw stuff off the Brooklyn Bridge," Puck said excitedly.

"Fun!" Dan said, high-fiving him.

"Guys, hold on," Finn told them. "I mean, we still have two songs to write."

"Okay, Mr. Bossy Pants," Kurt said, rolling his eyes playfully. "But I think we have some time for a tune before we leave."

"Start spreading the news," Kurt began to sing. Soon, they all joined in, not caring how downright cheesy it was. "I'm leaving today. I want to be a part of it. New York, New York."

"Guys," Rachel interrupted, walking over to them with her hands hidden behind her back. "I have news. To celebrate our impending win at Nationals I got us all fourteen tickets to Broadway's longest-running show ever: Cats."

Brittany cheered loudly, but no one else did. "You might want to check the dates on those tickets, Rachel, because Cats closed about eleven years ago," Quinn informed her.

"He did seem crazy," Rachel said after a moment, staring down at the tickets. "He charged my credit card by swiping it through his butt crack."

"And on that note," Dan said, standing up, "I say it's time to check into the hotel."

Their hotel was right in Times Square, putting them close to all the action. As Mr. Schuester got the rooms, everyone dispersed. Santana, Brittany, and Dan all hung around the fancy fountain in the lobby.

"Where's Jesse?" Brittany asked. The girl was occupying herself with taking the coins out of the fountain to steal everyone's wishes.

"He's on the next flight out," Dan explained. "The school grouped all our tickets together, but not his since he joined as a consultant so last minute. He'll be here later tonight."
