He raised an eyebrow which I took as a sign to go on. "You're Alex, right?" This time he raised both his eyebrows, giving me a 'stop-with-the-bullshitting' look.
The teacher entered the class and cleared her throat. "Good Morning, everyone. We'll be starting your last year of high school today. Are you all excited?" She asked enthusiastically, receiving bunch of much less enthusiastic 'yeahs'.
I turned in my chair to face her as she started the roll call. "Alexander Collins?" She looked up to check as he- like always-did not answer. She noticed me beside him and looked at us for a moment, her eyes dashing between me and Alex then looked back down.
Alex got up to leave as soon as the bell rung and I hurried to catch up with him. In my hurry, my books slipped out of my arms, falling to the ground in front of him. Well, maybe he'll pick them and I can strike a conversation.
He walked right past them and I had to pick them up my self. What was I thinking? Chivalry and him?

Lunch slowly rolled around and I went to our table where all the "popular" crowd sat. All of us weren't exactly 'friends', but we had something in common, popularity and importance. The student body council, the cheer leaders, sports team captains and their friends. Hazel waved me over and I almost took a seat there before I noticed Alex in my peripheral vision, going towards one of the trees in the front yard.
"I.. I've got some work to do, you guys carry on." I tell Hazel before making my way out to the front yard. I took small steps, trying to thing of what to say but I was already in his line of vision before I could think of anything. He stood up abruptly and coming to my rescue, spoke first.
"What are you trying to do?" He questioned exasperatedly.
I could understand, I had approached him twice in one day and kept stealing looks at him throughout the day.
"Talk to you, I guess?" I spoke unsurely. He narrowed his eyes at me. "Why?" To counsel you. "I- I just wanna be friends," I said, but it came out more like a question.
He looked right into my eyes, which made me feel weird so I looked at down my shoes. It's not that I didn't have any interaction with guys but his icy blue eyes staring into mine felt different than any other encounter I had had.
"I don't want any friends." He said in a clipped tone and walked away, leaving me standing there wondering what I was trying to do.
