Chapter 8 Something's Not Right

It had been about A month and a half. The couple was now married, Spencer requesting to just do a simple courthouse wedding and then dinner with their friends. Aaron was happy to oblige, just wanting his omega to be happy.

Today started out as a normal Tuesday. Aaron and Spencer got up together. Spencer made breakfast and coffee for his husband before giving him a kiss goodbye and seeing him off to work.

About eleven o'clock he began to have this feeling that something wasn't right. His head had not come when expected. If his calculations were correct, which they always were, he should have started his head yesterday. But here he was, no heat. He called the only omega he knew, JJ.

"Jareau." she answered.

"JJ it's Spencer. I need a favor." he spoke clearly, but there was an obvious nervousness in his voice.

"Is everything alright Spence?" the woman asked worriedly.

"I-I don't know. Are you able to get away from work?" he asked, somewhat shakily. 

"Yeah I can get away for a few minutes. What do you need?" she asked, he could hear paper rustling as she was getting ready to get whatever he needed her to.

"I-I need a pregnancy test." he replied quietly.

"Oh! Are you and Aaron trying already?"

"No." was all he said in response, "I'll explain when you get here."

"Be there in five." the other omega said before hanging up and letting her boss know she would be right back.

As she had said, JJ was there within five minutes with a grocery bag in hand. Spencer smiled at her when she came in, "Hey."

"Hey Spence. So what's going on?" she asked as she handed over the bag containing three different pregnancy tests.

"I-i missed my heat. I should have started it yesterday, or at least started nesting. But I haven't. I've only been through one heat with Aaron. I'm aware that for the first few they can be sparratic and unpredictable but its unlikely that this much time will pass between them. It just doesn't make sense. I just want to be sure." he explained quickly.

"Do you want me to stay while you take the tests?" his friend asked with a kind, understanding smile. He nodded thankfully and rushed to the bathroom.

He followed the instructions for each test. He waited nervously for what felt like an eternity. Finally the tests were ready and what he saw both terrified and excited him.

Two blue lines.

He looked at the second test.

A pink plus.

He looked at the third.

Two more lines.

His heart fluttered and dropped all at once.

"Well?" JJ asked from the other side of the bathroom door.

Spencer slowly opened the door holding the third test. Tears pricked his eyes and he wasn't sure if they were tears of joy or fear. "I-I'm pregnant.." he whispered.

"Spence that's amazing!" JJ exclaimed. She took another look at his expression and her face softened, "Or is it?" she asked.

"I-I don't know. Aaron talked about wanting kids, and so do I, but it's so soon. W-what if I'm not ready...?" he whispered.

"Oh Spence. You'll be an amazing mom. And Aaron will be an amazing dad. Are you going to tell him right away?" She asked curiously.

"I-ill tell him when he comes home from work." Spencer nodded.
