Chief pressed quickly the buttons to call his son. Then he pressed "Call". There was a smell of both awkwardness and worry in the room as Chief's phone was ringing till Light picked up.
"Light, Ryuzaki is saying he wants your help with the investigation. If you're interested come here immediately without alerting Sachiko or Sayu. The location is..." Chief said without breathing between the sentences.
Light please dont be interested.
There was some silence until the familiar voice of Light was heard, muffled through the phone.
"Okay." Chief slightly smiled at the thought of his son, taking his chance to get cleared from suspicion. Then he turned off his flip phone and turned around to face everybody in the investigation.
"He's coming." He said.
"Great." Ryuzaki stated.
Everybody was pretty worried as they were expecting Light.
What will he think?
"Chief, if you allow it, could I prepare your son some coffee?" Ryuzaki asked in complete calmness.
"Of course, thank you." He said and started overthinking again.
That's the best he can do. Poor man.
"Y/N I need your help in preparing Light-kun's coffee." Ryuzaki ordered and interrupted your excessive thinking.
"Of course." You mumbled following him in another room avoiding to make eye contact with anyone.
The floor creaked a few times as you were stepping causing you to feel more nervous while walking. Until, Ryuzaki finally stopped walking.
They must have all noticed something was wrong.
"Y/N, please listen to me." Ryuzaki asked in a lighter tone. Something in his voice made you turn to look at him again, and let him stare into your eyes with a soft look, immediately calming you down a bit.
"Light knows I'm suspecting him. So it won't be a problem seeing you here. I am 95% sure." He said still having that soft look in his eyes. His eyes were so different from just a bit ago, with the taskforce. Or at least, they seemed to be. Or at least, you wanted them to be.
"I know you think he's a dangerous person, but he really can't do any harm to you. If he wants to do so, he'll have to kill me first and then the other remembers of the taskforce." He paused and started reorganizing the tea cups and started preparing coffee.
"So no need for you to worry." He said and poured the coffee into a white tea cup.
"I will try." You said in a serious tone since you felt like it was very childish of yours to worry about that at this point.
Silence drowned the room again and the only sound that was able to be heard was the sound of Ryuzaki dropping sugar cubes, he had inside a glass bowl, inside Light's coffee one by one.
"I think you're dropping too many." You said, as you had been focusing on that movement of his, and took the glass box away from him.
"You think so?" He asked, not letting you understand if he was being sarcastic or not.
"Yes?" You asked trying not to show that you didnt understand his tone in his previous sentence. There was an awkward silence of around 15 seconds of you staring him and him staring the cup.
"Maybe you're right." He said and looked at you with a different look than before. Thay look wasn't lifeless like the one he usually has.
"Can you bring the sugar cubes though, in case Light-kun wants more?" He asked. Something in the way he asked that, all serious, made you smile.
"Okay." You agreed and he took the coffee cup while you took the glass box in your hands. You could glimpse a small smile being drawn on his lips, but hell that was for less than a second.
Did I daydream it?
Maybe
"Let's go." He said, as some talking could be heard from the room where the taskforce members were.
You followed him to see all the members of the taskforce and the door of the room closing behind. Then you noticed Matsuda was missing. Ryuzaki sat on his chair and drank some more of his coffee and you sat in your previous seat. That little friend of the investigation team, silence, was here again. Then Ryuzaki's phone rang.
"Alright." He answered and turned off the phone.
"Ryuzaki I'd like to confirm this again." Chief sighed.
"If my son brings up the possibility of the Second Kira, then he will be cleared?" He continued in agony."As I said earlier, mostly cleared." Ryuzaki said sipping his drink, as if he hadn't understood the seriousness of the situation for Chief.
Suddenly, the creaky door opened making Matsuda and Chief's son appear. Your heart beat like crazy.
Someone would ask why you are you putting blind trust on that detective? He's solved tons of difficult cases and helped many people. His charisma is flowing through his eyes.
Not that you're crushing on him vividly.
You cleared up your head and focused on what was happening. Light was looked at you in disbelief in split second and gave a look to the others.
