Miss Brighton,
I am writing this letter first to apologize on behalf of my brother. He indeed exceeded on his words and actions against you. However, Miss Brighton, you must understand he was in extreme shock upon catching our beloved mother, kneeling on the floor next to you and crying like a child.
The second reason for having written this letter to you is my mother.
She has not been herself since the death of my father, her sweetheart. Mother always drank quite a lot, however, the habit has gotten worse recently. I remember her with a glass of whiskey in her hand since I was but a small child. Yet it never bother me and it never affected her behaviour until my father died. With "her protector" gone, my mother got lost in her drinking.
Her stories, too, got worse. Not sure what she talked with you about, as she requested us, her children, not to interfere on this subject. However, I confess myself worried. I have tried without avail to understand what went wrong, but she hasn't replied to any of my questions. I regret to have let this happen, but I couldn't refuse her request, the first one since my father died.
Miss Brighton, I appeal to you to disregard my mother's stories. She is unwell and paranoid, and nothing coming from her in that state can be anything but gibberish. You cannot make this unsupervised chat public. If so, we would be obligated to contact our lawyer and make you stop all of this nonsense.
Nevertheless, we wish to compensate you for all the ruckus that happened at our home. My brother told me the blood on your arms was not his doing. Still, I was unhappy with his behaviour and I hope the check I am sending you covers any medical assistance you may need.
I wish to bring us closer to the end of this dreadful incident.
Please be warned that any attempt to reach my mother will be reported to the police.
Have a good day,
Mrs Clara Woods
