Ball caps, sunglasses, hooded sweatshirts, slightly ripped jeans. These are Steve's main forms of clothing while he goes undercover and searches for Bucky, who as of recently seems to have a thing for disappearing. While their last encounter ended abruptly and with severe injury, Steve still believes that the James Buchanan Barnes he remembers is in there somewhere, behind the war paint and metal arm.

As Steve approaches an escalator in some mall- he's been traveling for so long he can't even remember what city he's in anymore- he is taken back to one of many memorable encounters with Natasha.

"Kiss me," she had said, her short red hair luminous under the bright artificial lighting of the shopping center.

"What?" Steve replied, appalled by this sudden request. Or was it more of a demand?

"Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable." Why was she saying this?

"Yes, they do," Steve answered, concern and confusion obvious in his voice. Still in shock from what Natasha was asking him to do, Steve was not prepared when she put her hand on the back of his head and pulled him down to her level so she could kiss him. He unknowingly put his hand on her waist- it probably looked less awkward than it felt. Natasha's hand moved down to the side of his face. Steve tensed- this wasn't normal. What was she doing?
When Natasha finally pulled away, Steve looked at the escalator next to them and saw Rumlow, one of the guys looking for he and Natasha.

"You still uncomfortable?" Natasha asks Steve.

"It's not exactly the word I would use."

Snapping out of his daze, Steve ascends to the second floor of the crowded mall. He turns a corner and enters the Apple Store. He finds the nearest computer and scavenges for any piece of information that could lead him any closer to Bucky. He checks every website that mentions his name, his Wikipedia page, anything that has to do with him. Nothing. Just like yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that. He closes his eyes, the heaviness of discouragement weighing him down.

"Don't lose hope yet," he tells himself. "You'll find him."
