*Time skip to senior year acceptance day*
Today is the day I see where my path starts. My parents, my brother, and Lontrell stood around me as I sat at my computer. No one said anything. I clicked on the email that had my dream school decision attached to it. Howard University. I put my mouse on it, ready to click, but I was nervous.
"Can one of y'all do it please?" Everyone was counting down as Lontrell grabbed the mouse.
"3" What if I don't get in?
"2" Nah I got in
"1" Nevermind fuck it, I don't need to go to college.
CONGRULATIONS, We are please to offer you admission to Howard University.....
I was speechless. All the other schools I applied to didn't matter anymore.
After, everyone said their congratulations, they left except Lontrell.
"I'm so proud of you shawtz. You going to be something one day", he said as he sat on my bed. I got up and sat next to him. "Thank you Pooh".
"No fr you better become something, you got so much going for yourself. "
I smiled and nodded my head, " I will I promise. I'm just nervous"
"Why?"
"Because Im going away from my home. I will be leaving everything. I will be leaving you. I don't want to lose you," I said looking at him sadly.
"Mamas no matter what, you ain't gon never lose me, we are bonded for life. We forever." He said hugging me.
I smiled. He is my literal best friend. We been inseparable since the day we met.
As we finished hugging, I thought about about his future.
"Did you apply to any colleges ?"
"Nah "
"Okay but do you have a plan for after high school?" I asked him looking at him.
"I mean other than rapping nawl." He replied adjusting his hat.
"I know you can make it big. I like your sound. You have a purpose behind what you do", I said smiling.
"Fashoo thanks, and Im going to take you wimme", He said lifting my chin.
"Period Pooh", I said swiping under my chin. "Do you want to go to the mall? Prom is coming up". He nodded and grabbed his keys.
As we was walking out the door, my phone started ringing.
