To say how it happened, more so "Why" was a question neither of the two really had a clue in or could really figure out years after they started to date. Chie never saw herself as a girl most boys would find attractive. In her words, "Too Tomboyish" for them. Kanji felt as if his hobby was something to be secretive from girls, already shown enough by his Shadow and just his overall fear of them for it. Outside of those aspects, the two never really seem to be around each other outside of the Investigation Team. Chie was always around Yukiko, Yosuke, or Yu while Kanji mainly hung around Rise and Naoto. Any talk that came from the two was always short-lived conversations on who could eat a Beef Bowl from Aiya the fastest, workout routines, and just anything that came to mind for the two if they were around each other. Yet Chie always seemed to be really engaged with Kanji on how he spoke to her, in a sense of how other boys talked with her outside of Yu. He never flirted as Yosuke would do, god knows the stammering mess he'd become trying to even flirt, let alone confess to a girl but was always soft-spoken like Yu was whenever she talked with him. What made Kanji stand out to her was his passion for something, like his sewing and craftsmanship. If Kanji could do an entire day of just talking about it, he would be able to for a whole year. Chie didn't really care for sewing but something about hearing the way Kanji talked about it was cute in her eyes and definitely opened the idea of trying it out for herself. For the next 2 weeks, she'd try to repair a rip in her backpack she got from a failed flying kick once out of school and getting stuck on one of the fences. Yukiko was hanging out with her at the time like always and noticed the strangeness of Chie's sudden interest in knitting. "I know once you get into something, you really are determined to keep trying but sewing is an odd one." Yukiko said, puzzled at just the thought of her best friend having pins and yarn. Chie looked up to her with an unconcerned look "Talking with Kanji really made me wanna try, and I thought, why not start with fixing this bag?" Chie said, using one of the pins to point to the tear. Yukiko's eyes went a little wide at the idea of Kanji being an influence on her "You guys hang out? You two never really seem like the type to do so together." She said with an honest expression of curiosity on her face. "Not like that, just when we're all hanging out is when we really talk. Kanji talks a lot about his hobbies now after we finally got Adachi." Chie says with a cheerful smile "Hearing him talk about it so much made me interested." Yukiko took a minute to digest the whole situation between the two who seemingly didn't talk to each other that often to now only discovered that they've talked so much, to a point that Chie had taken an interest in something he enjoys. She continued to watch Chie trial and error her way through fixing the tear as an idea popped in her head once she got out her phone.

Yu was bewildered by the sudden text Yukiko sent him. Not with the idea of it having to do with Chie but more so how Kanji had anything to do with it. He was the Team's leader but even he didn't really gauge into Chie's and Kanji's relationship with each other. He thought about bringing Yosuke with him today but he was busy at work and that usually meant Teddie was also helping out. Rise was an option on the table but canceled saying she and Naoto were busy going shopping, something that Yu knew translated to "I'm forcing Naoto to go out shopping with me along with a trip to the bookstore for her afterwards." Yu opened the front door to Tatsumi's Textures to find Kanji's Mother at the front as always. "Why hello Narukami! Have you come to see Kanji?" She said with an old but warming smile to the young man. Yu nodded to her as she pointed to the stairs, signaling that Kanji was in his room. Walking up the stairs, Yu casually knocked on Kanji's door "Hey Kanji, It's me Narukami." The door opened with Kanji standing as tall as ever. "Oh hey Senpai, What are you doin here?" Kanji questioned curiously about Yu's sudden appearance. "Just wanted to check in on you and hang out, that's all. What are you up to right now?" Kanji opens the door wider for Yu to come into his room. "I was actually sewing something but got distracted by Chie's Trial of the Dragon." He pointed to the TV to see the Movie playing. Yu knew one of two things about Chie and her obsession with Trial of the Dragon. She could tell you scene by scene the entire movie and that she'd rather want you to watch it with her than to let alone borrow her copy after what happened to it with Yosuke. This probably was what Yukiko alluded to when she texted it being about Chie, he decided to go more into this situation like he was his uncle. "So when did Chie give you her copy?" Yu questioned honestly. "Oh uh, she gave it to me during one of our hangouts as a group. She seemed pretty excited when I asked her about it and wanted to learn more. I can see why she's so interested in this stuff. This main character dude is a real man." He says with his usual feeling of extreme interest. To say Narukami was caught off guard would be an understatement. The man who followed the words of a man with a large nose, helped a poet gain back their memories who then turned out to be a god, and talked with a literal fox, was starting to question how he missed a big turn in a relationship that didn't seem to have much at all. "You two are talking to each other more? Yu said with more of a look akin to Naoto when interrogating someone "I guess so? We really ain't talkin for long tho. Usually just somethin short and sweet. It's been nice not havin to hide my hobbies from anybody Senpai, especially girls now." He says so with an honest smile, a smile Narukami is happy to see given the road Kanji has had to go through to be more open with himself. He and Kanji continued to watch the movie, now being reminded of how much he was not a fan of it. Which gave him the idea to update Yukiko on the situation given how much Kanji was into the movie, almost as much as Chie herself would be.

Wild Card to Princess
-Well I'm at Kanji's house rn, It's been pretty interesting

Princess to Wild Card
-How interesting are we talking here?

Wild Card to Princess
-He has Chie's copy of Trial of the Dragon and is acting as enthusiastic as she is when talking about the film. I don't think he's let his eyes leave the screen much since I've been here

Princess to Wild Card
-Wow... This is the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Wild Card to Princess
-What are you getting at Yukiko?
