𝕀𝕋 𝕎𝔸𝕊 one of the last warm days of summer and time went by slowly. All around, you could see wizarding families packing up their luggage, ready to leave the picturesque Godric's Hollow for the suburbs of London. Sirius Black was among them, although the rest of his family hadn't left London with him and wasn't eagerly waiting for him to come back.

James Potter didn't appreciate seeing his friend in such a state. The Black boy hadn't cracked a joke in more than twenty-four hours, and for most of his interactions with James, he had been rude and grumpy. However, James knew better than to let this affect him. After all, anyone would feel dejected, leaving parents like the Potters for a family like the Black.

Fleamont and Euphemia Potter were more than understanding parents and permitted the boys some alone time in the nearest muggle village that same day. James hoped to change Sirius' mind by giving him a peek at the muggle life, and Fleamont and Euphemia needed a break from the two troublemakers. As for Sirius, he would have given anything to switch life with his best friend.

They spent most of the day eating ice cream under the shade of a colourful parasol. Sirius' impressive tan attracted more than his fair share of glances, as James' perfect curly hair did, thanks to the high level of humidity in the air.

"I wish Lily would look at me the same way that waitress is," James said dejectedly, eyeing the fourteen-year-old girl wearing a blue visor and apron a few meters away from them. She was supposedly cleaning the tables but had been rubbing the same spot for quite some time. He could feel the heat of her stare burning the side of his face.

Sirius barked a laugh, his first of the day. "Never thought maybe your precious Lily was more attracted to girls, Prongs?"

"Lily is gay?" James asked, jumping off his seat. The girl wasn't the only one staring anymore, every other customer was, and after an apologetic wave, James sat back in his chair, his cheeks a slight shade of red.

"I don't know, but that could be a possibility," Sirius answered with a mocking smile upon seeing James' wrinkled nose. "Plus, what's wrong with being gay?"

"Nothing," he hurried to say, aware of Sirius' attraction to both sexes. "But if I hear Lily has a crush on Summers, I don't know what I'll do..."

Summers was one of the prettiest girls in the castle, although James never got around to liking her; she had too many Slytherin friends to his taste.

"And if she has a crush on Snivellus?"

James cast an offended look at his friend, who threw his head back in laughter upon meeting his eyes. He joined Sirius half-heartedly, a hand running through his messy brown locks.

"Don't worry, mate," Sirius added with a smirk. "I don't think anyone can have a crush on that guy."

Conversations came easily afterward, and both friends spent the rest of the day wandering the streets of the muggle village, buying objects they had never seen before with purposes that seemed pretty much useless to them.
