(Sasuke POV)
When Sasuke Uchiha woke up he immediately knew something was wrong.
Of course he didn't actually know why that was. He was a tired and disoriented five year old. Sasuke had absolutely no clue why he was awake or why his chest hurt so much. He would have been suppressed, however nightmares were a common occurrence for him. This specific situation had happened to him what felt like a hundred times before. So some part of his brain most likely knew why he was awake. But Sasuke was still half asleep, and if he wanted to actually consider hit predicament, the first order of action would be to get out of bed.
With much reluctance the five year old boy blinked groggily and sat up. Swinging his legs over the edge of his bad had the unfortunate side effect of causing most of his covers to fall off leaving him shivering due to the cold morning air.
At the moment it was mid winter which meant currently the entire Uchiha compound felt like it was in the middle of an arctic circle. The only places that were exceptions to this were a) the council room because, even though Sasuke's father would scold him is he ever admitted it out loud, the clan elders were a bunch of total weaklings. And b) the clan archives for reasons that were beyond him.
Sasuke jumped out of bed and hurried over to his closet to grab a jacket so that he wouldn't freeze to death. After a moment of rummaging through the pile of laundry and clothes at the bottom of the closet he found the item he had been looking for.
It was a relatively plain black hoodie with baggy sleeves and the Uchiha Clan crest embroidered right over the area where his heart should be. "Should" being the key word in that sentence; Sasuke had stolen this particular clothing article from his brother the minute the weather starting hinting at the barest semblance's of cold. Because it was designed for someone twice his age, it was no surprise that the hoodie completely dwarfed him.
It looked, apparently, both hilarious and adorable on him. The first time Sasuke waddled down to breakfast wearing his stolen hoodie his family had gawked and cooed over him all morning. It had been a sight to see, Sasuke stumbling half asleep, with his mismatched socks and hoodie that hung off his frame like ill-fitting drapes.
The hoodie had become his favorite, which was why he had spent the extra time to look for it in the mess of his closet instead of grabbing the light blue jacket that had been situated on a hanger, just off to his right.
After putting on the his hoodie and pulling the cotton hood up over his head Sasuke took the time to look around his room. Despite the sense of perpetual wrongness that resonated from his core, everything seemed normal. Sasuke's room was exactly how he had left it the night before.
Said room wasn't much to write home about; it was simple and functional, just how Sasuke liked it. He only had some necessities and a few extra toys and nick-nacks to keep him entertained when he wasn't reading a book, or pestering someone to show him how to throw knives.
The entire bedroom consisted of a small bed located in the far right corner of the room, a dresser which was of course for clothes and a special drawer where he kept designated for extra junk or trash. He also had a desk adjacent to his bed, with an oil lamp as its only decoration, and a nightstand where he kept his alarm clock and any books he wanted to read late at night, when he was supposed to be sleeping.
Speaking of the alarm clock Sasuke realized that it hadn't gone of yet which was odd, considering it was morning. Leaning closer, he squinted his eyes to see the time displayed on the front. According to the clock, it was about 2:55 AM which explained why the alarm hadn't gone off yet.
