The Business Trip Part 2

Resolution

It all plays out in a matter of seconds, as Hayat pauses on the top of the ramp, the audience breaks out into a standing ovation, Cagla leaps at the opportunity provided to escape the security officer sitting with her, and before he could stop Cagla, she is lost in the sea of people applauding Hayat. Cagla quickly moves to the top of the ramp and sees Murat walking up to the ramp from the opposite side, they both spot each other at the exact same moment. An alarmed Murat, gauging instantly that Cagla is up to her tricks, takes a step forward to stop her, but she is too quick for him and quickly throws the hairbrush that she had pulled out from her purse on the ramp, just as Hayat turns around to walk back, Hayat who's attention is on Murat is too late to react and stumbles on the hairbrush, twisting her ankle and losing her balance, one hand on her belly trying to protect her baby, the other trying to brace for impact. Quickly acting on his reflexes Murat leaps forward and reaches the side of the ramp as a terrified Hayat falls straight into his arms. Eyes shut. she holds onto Murat for dear life, positive that all is lost.

The audience feel relieved, all hell breaks loose as Murat regaining his composure, quickly shouts, "Don't let her escape" Emir is furious, he barks orders at the security, and they get a hold of Cagla just as she tries to sneak out the side exit door.

Hayat opens her eyes, too afraid and embarrassed to face the audience, but like a knight in Shining armor, Murat carries her on to the stage while Emir announces, " Ladies and gentlemen, let's give it up for the man of the moment - Murat Sarsilmaz, and just like in the fairy tales, he has come to the rescue of his beautiful wife and the showstopper of this evening - Hayat Sarsilmaz!" The audience cheer on whistling, hooting, and clapping at the stunning couple.

"You can put me down now, I'm fine" she mumbles into his ears, as he breathes in her scent.        " Not yet" he holds her close to him and whispers, " I'm never letting you go, not now, not ever", she could clearly see that Murat was completely shaken by what had just happened. After what felt like a lifetime, but was just a couple of minutes, the applause finally dies down and Murat gently puts her down, and they both take a bow and slowly exit the ramp.

Emir quickly walks up to them and says, "We have her Murat!"

Murat is furious, he walks straight up to Cagla, who is held back by two security guards, " I won't let you get away with it this time Cagla, you were barking up the wrong tree. The last time you tried to mess around with me, I just let it go, but this time around you went too far, not only did you try to hurt my wife, but you also knew very well, that you could have hurt my baby too! I will never forgive you; you are a vile woman Cagla, and your place belongs behind bars." he hisses.

Still undeterred, Cagla taunts him, "And what will you tell her Murat, remember I have proof, remember that I can show the whole world, that you really are nothing but a two faced man, who goes around with other women behind his wife's back", " Stop it Cagla, before I forget my manners and treat you the way you deserve to be treated" he screams at her, just then a silent Hayat, who has been quietly listening in on their conversation, walks up to them and lets Cagla know, " Even if I were to let Murat free, I know he would never make such a poor choice so as to fall for a deceitful woman like you, Cagla, I am not buying your story, not now, not ever!"

She storms out of the dressing room and gets a cab and asks him to take her back to the hotel. Exhausted by the way the evening had unfolded, Hayat lets herself into their suite and just flops herself on the bed, her hand on her head, trying to come to terms with the reality of what had just happened, she could have lost her baby, just the thought of it making her shudder with fear, she touches her belly, and feels the baby kick, reassuring her that she is well. Realizing that if Cagla could think of harming her physically then she could just have easily tried to seduce Murat. The success of today's show also makes her realize that Murat had to take this chance to prove himself or else he could never have had such an opportunity again. She should have never let her fear and pride come in the way of her love, she should have stood by him, instead she had offered him on a silver platter to Cagla. This would have never come to be had she been there for him every step of the way. She had let him down. Sad and hurt by the events of the evening, she lies down on the bed and exhausted, falls asleep.

She does not hear the door open as Murat walks in quietly, he sees her sleeping and does not want to disturb her, unable to stop himself, he goes up to her and caresses her cheek, kissing her softy he thinks to himself, he could have lost everything, his pride and ego could have taken everything dear to him. He kicks himself for being stubborn and not calling Hayat, not trying to find out how she had been coping after he had left for USA.  He arrives at a decision, he slowly starts packing his things, he did not want to stress her anymore, he wanted her to be happy, he would get back to Istanbul, and he would move out of her apartment and let her be. He would support her in every way she would let him, but he will not bother her or cause her more anxiety and distress. He had hoped that she would forgive him and things would settle down for them and that after the event was done, he would take her around Paris, he had wanted to be awed by her childlike enthusiasm while showing her the Eiffel Tower, but now, neither would there be any long romantic walks hand in hand by the Seine or at the Louvre nor was he sure if they would ever be together again!
