Chapter 12- Unedited

"James, she just woke up. At least give her time to relax" Paul tried to argue with James but I couldn't prolong this moment.

"Its okay Paul, we really need to talk" I said to him resting my hand gently on his shoulder.

"Okay, I'll let it go only if you are sure about it" he said. I just nodded my head in agreement and him and Ethan left but not before promising me that he will be back as soon as I'm done with James

"Hey kid, hows it going?" James asked with a breathtaking smile. I couldn't help but smile back at him.

"Hey James, I feel very mighty"I said, he just chuckled

"You should," he said nodding his head. He hesitated for a moment and took a sit next to my bed

"What do you want to talk about first" he asked me

"Grandma?" I asked

"Oh yes. She was a fine piece of art" he said smiling but the sadness in his eyes didn't go unnoticed.

"James!" I exclaimed with wide eyes. James just let out a bark of laughter.

"Okay now back to the matter at hand" he began "There used to be a place where elementals ruled, it was our own town. Eleanora was a powerful woman, the queen of elementals her father had passed the throne to her before he died and although the idea of a woman leading people was not accepted back then, people respected her father so much as to accept his decisions. Of course every queen needs a king so I was her king. Her family didn't like the idea of us together for I was not born of royal blood but we went against their wishes anyway and fell in love until they finally accepted the idea of me" he paused for a second

"I was in love with her, it wasn't about the throne, it was the unconditional love I had for her" his voice broke a little and I reached out and touched his hand understanding the pain he was feeling somehow.

"Your mother was supposed to have been the next queen after your grandmother but she was not the one neither any of our two sons fit the category as well, several years later you were born and we knew that you are the one and so the throne was passed to you" he paused reaching out for an empty glass on the bedside. He held it in front of my me as if asking me to take it. I stared at him in confusion.

"I need water Eleanor" he said lifting the glass a bit. My mind clicked at what he was implying.

"I don't know how to do it" I said honestly

"Squeeze you hand like your squeezing oranges to make orange juice" I put my hand in front of my face and examined it and did as he told me to. Within seconds I had the glass filled up with water of which James consumed.

"That was amazing" I said examining my hand again

"It is" he said putting the glass down "Where was I? Oh yes the throne was passed to you at that time which left you with all the power and your grandmother with less. Of course vampires have always been our enemies and when they heard about the miracle baby they went mad and wanted your blood, your grandmother and both your parents fought for you to be safe and your grandmother literally begged me to take you and Ethan and run away with you when things started getting nasty, even threatened to end her life if I didn't take you and your parents into safe refuge.

I couldn't live her like that so she disappeared and that's when I took it upon me to fled with you all, to at least fulfill her wish, many elementals were killed during that time and only a few remain, I don't know how many but I know they are there somewhere anticipating your return. We came here to seek refuge and Paul's grandfather, alpha at that time was kind, enough to let us stay here. I went back to our town to find your grandmother, I did find her but she was dead and from then I vowed to keep you all safe" I looked at him processing the whole thing in my head. James was a good storyteller, totally got me hooked.

"How did my parents die" I asked after some time of silence

"Vampires did find our whereabouts and came started hunting you down but patrol was strong and no one could ever cross the boarder to get to you. We came to a decision to scatter you and Ethan, have the humans raise you instead but we later went back for Ethan. When they saw Ethan they thought you were there as well so they attacked, killing your parents in the process and many of my good friends. When I killed their leader Zachery, they fled with tails between their legs and we never saw them again, well until now of course"

"So if you knew I was the queen why did you let those people take me?" I asked him

"I thought maybe there must have been some mistake, that maybe you were not the one" I nodded slowly understanding

"So who is the guardians of the elementals?"

"Your councilmen, they are the eldest in the elemental community, been around for hundreds of years" he replied

"So they don't die" I asked my voice laced with confusion

"Elementals have a life span of about a century and a half" my eyes went wide in shock

"Then how old are you" I asked still in my state of shock.

"I stopped aging at 80 and I've been alive for 956 years now"

...............

I woke up feeling well rested but I still had a minor headache. I looked around my room and found Ethan seated at the very corner with a book in his hand, as if sensing my awoken presence he looked up from the book and beamed at me.

"My lady," he said with a small bow, clearly teasing me

"Oh shut up and come give me a hug" I said opening my arms for him. He moved from across the room and engulfed me in a hug, it felt so good to be with him again.

"Don't you dare scare me like that again you hear me?" he said hugging me tighter, his voice cracking a bit at the end

"I wont, I promise" I assured him.

"James told me everything" he confessed releasing me

"Its a lot to take in isn't it?" I asked remembering how I had passed out when James had finished telling me the story.

"Yeah, totally" he replied "So queen huh?" He asked with a small smirk

"Yep the one and only" I said sarcastically, I still couldn't believe it myself. He looked at me dead serious, all the playfulness gone

"You that I love you and I promise you this, whatever happens, I'll fight by your side no matter the outcome" and I knew he meant it.
