The light of day had faded hours ago, it cast its brilliant colors, but they now had gone after the sun had disappeared from the horizon. The moon had rose and cast a dim lighting in the forest, but was partially blocked by the dark grey clouds that filled the sky. The sky was dark as a pearl, and the stars were tiny little specs that sparkled in the sky. But most of this beauty of night, was overshadowed by the clouds. Everything had gotten colder, and the air was seemingly dead. It was dark out in the forest, but you could still see with the low, dim lighting of the moon. Both of the raptors had stopped to take a break a couple of hours ago, and they rested during that time.
Ripper's eyes slitted open partially, it took a few seconds for his eyes to adjust to the darkness. When they did, he could see the grass below him, the trees, the clouds blocking up the sky, and Blue a few meters away from him. He stared at her for a bit, but got interrupted by his mind.
Why haven't you killed her already?
"I've told you this before, she has helped me. Plus, she has saved me from InGen and the Night Feeder. She also is my friend.." Ripper answered.
You don't need friends, they will only hold you back. They will make you weak, and soft like you have become.
"I'm not soft," Ripper growled.
She has made you soft. That is why Sidefin died, it was all your fault.
This to Ripper felt like a stab in the heart. "Y-You're right, otherwise he wouldn't have died.." He said trailing off.
"Are you talking to your mind again?" Blue asked. She apparently had woken up and overheard what had happened.
Ripper was startled by this, he turned his head in the direction of where the noise came from and saw Blue staring at him, waiting for him to answer.
"It's all my fault, Sidefin's death was all my fault," Ripper said.
"No, no, no, it's not your fault," Blue quickly replied.
"How could it not have been, everywhere I go I bring death!" Ripper replied loudly.
"Ripper, listen t-" Blue started.
"Maybe it would've been better if I stayed impaled on that skull," Ripper said sadly.
Blue was surprised by what Ripper had just said, they stood there for a moment in silence. Blue then let out a sigh and walked up towards Ripper.
"It's not your fault," Blue cooed. "Look at me in the eye," She calmly said.
Ripper lifted his head up and looked Blue in the eye.
"It's ok," Blue cooed as she pulled him into a hug.
Ripper's eyes widened in surprise. S-She's hugging me? Ripper thought to himself. Ripper couldn't understand the emotions he was experiencing.
Blue backed up from the hug and smiled at Ripper.
"Thank you," Ripper said with a smile.
"Your welcome," Blue replied with a smile.
The two stared at each other for a moment of silence, it seemed that each wanted to speak but nothing came out.
Suddenly they got interrupted by the sound of shouting.
"How'd they catch up to us already?" Ripper asked.
"THERE!!!" A soldier shouted.
A soldier who was holding a tranquilizer gun came to a stop and aimed the muzzle towards them. Ripper and Blue quickly got out of the way before the tranquilizer gun fired, the dart whistled through the air and hit into the ground. Ripper looked at the soldier who fired, the soldier was reloading his weapon by taking out another dart and inserting it into the barrel of the gun. Ripper started running towards the soldier picking up his pace quickly and leaped. His body flew through the air and collided with the soldier, his talons burst into the soldier's chest, splitting it open which caused blood to explode out, splatting against everything around it. Ripper felt bullets make contact with his back, tearing away bits of flesh as they zipped by. He turned around and roared at the soldiers who fired at him. The roar lasted for about seven seconds. Blue sprang forward and ran towards the soldiers who were firing at Ripper. Her jaws found their way around a soldier's neck, she came to a stop and threw the soldier into another soldier who was going to fire his gun at her. The soldier collided with the other causing the bullets to go off into the air. Another soldier who had a net gun kneeled down and aimed it at Blue, Blue took quick notice of this and just barely dodged the net. The net shot out and hit into a soldier behind the intended target, wrapping around him and making him fall over. Suddenly a roar rang out into the air making everybody stop cold. The roar sounded like a high pitched screech, it sent chills down everybody's spine. The sound was all too familiar to Ripper and Blue, it scared them to think of it. Suddenly one of the soldiers let out a terrified scream. Shouts rang out into the air and all the soldiers focused their attention on something else that had attacked a fellow soldier. The creature came out of hiding, with half of a body hanging in its jaws with blood dripping down to the ground, staining it a shiny crimson red. Ripper and Blue gasped at what they saw, it was the Night Feeder. The Night Feeder dropped the body and swiftly ran to the soldiers, attacking them. Shouts filled the air as soldiers tried to fight back against the creature. Ripper ran towards Blue and stopped in front of her.
