"So what are you and theodore on about?" Pansy asked Hope as the two girls made their way to their DADA class.
"What do you mean?" Hope couldn't help but smile at the memory from last night when he had smiled at her.
"Oh look at you. so whipped." Pansy chuckled lightly, bumping her shoulders into Hope's in a teasing manner.
"Shut up." Hope groaned, trying to cover up her smile with a scowl.
"On a serious note, do you still have a crush on him?"
Hope thought for a moment before answering,"To be honest, yes."
"So are you planning on asking him out?" Pansy asked further.
"I'm not sure about that. And he doesn't even feels the same about me." Hope shrugged and entered the DADA class, taking a seat at the very back.
"You can't be so sure! Try to get to know him, maybe." Pansy suggested with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"I'll think about that." Hope sighed, her eyes shooting up to find Leo taking a seat in front of her and theodore besides him.
Rest of the class, Hope hardly paid any attention to Snape, her mind hooked to find a way to get Leo reveal the secret.
Startled by the bell, Hope got up on her feet and walked out with pansy who had her next period free.
Hope parted ways with Pansy and made her way towards the dungeons for the potions class. Hearing some footsteps, Hope turned around to find Leo Malfoy and stopped in her tracks.
When he crossed her, completely ignoring her presence, she jogged up to him and forcefully pulled him inside an empty classroom.
She cornered him and pushed him in the wall making him struggle to get free. "What the fuck are you doing ─"
Hope pulled out a small pocket knife she had once stolen from the potions class and pressed it against his neck lightly.
"Shut up or I'm gonna slit open your throat." She grunted, finding it hard to keep him under her control.
"Don't be silly." Leo laughed and placed his cold hands on her cheeks,"You can't hurt me."
Offended, Hope pressed the knife more in his throat making him wince slightly. She felt satisfied after watching him twitch in pain.
Suddenly her smirk fell, a realization struck her like lightning.
She was enjoying the fact that someone in front of her trembling in pain? What had gotten into her?
She was a sadist who enjoyed watching other's in pain?
Leo noticed that Hope had zoned out and found the perfect opportunity to pin her to the wall instead. He snatched the pocket knife out of her hand and threw it far away before looking at Hope who had tears forming in her eyes.
Feeling guilty, he let go of her hands and stepped away from her, scared that he had hurt her.
Without another word, Hope ran out of the classroom leaving a confused Leo behind. Hope ran and ran until her legs couldn't carry anymore.
She collapsed near the edge of the forbidden forest and cried her heard out. The guilt and anger she felt towards herself wrenched her heart.
Her subconscious mind screamed at her, called her evil broke Hope completely. She didn't want to be a bad person. She didn't want to hurt others. But her actions said something different.
Hope spent her entire day by the lake until all the classes were over. She picked up her bag, redid her messy hair with her hands and made sure to wash her face before walking into the slytherin common room which was bustling with students.
Some were sprawled on the couch while some sat down on the floor in a circle.
"Hope!" Pansy called out after noticing her. Hope turned her head around and spotted Pansy with Leo and theodore sitting near the fireplace.
She connected eyes with Leo and instantly regretted it when guilt rushed inside her heart.
"Hi." She vaguely replied, sitting cross legged next to Pansy.
"Where the fuck were you? I looked around for you but I couldn't find you anywhere." Pansy complained.
"Oh about that, I just needed some fresh air. And I didn't feel like attending classes. Sorry for getting you worried." Hope made up a lie and earned another guilt for lying to Pansy who was just genuinely worried.
"It's fine. Just let me know the next time." Pansy patted her shoulders lightly and looked over at Leo who was busy writing his essay.
"Hold on, I'll bring my quill and parchment as well." She said, earning a nod from Leo who continued his work.
"Are you really okay?" Theodore turned to Hope once Pansy was gone.
Hope looked at him and slightly jumped away when theodore gently placed his hand on her knee.
She gulped the lump forming in her throat and sneaked a glance at Leo who was trying hard to remain unaffected by their conversation.
"Yeah, thank you for asking." Hope forced a smile and sprang on her feet,"I'll see you later."
