After their discussion, Remus and Sirius leave for Diagon Alley, the former stating that he has to start planning for the upcoming school year. The smiles on the mens' faces are bright enough to rival the sunshine outside as they disappear into the Floo Network. I hug my best friend, passing her son to her before kissing his forehead, and watch as she disappears next, heading home to put Teddy down for his actual nap. Though, I wouldn't have minded to keep holding him.
I check to make sure all of the dishes are being cleaned by the spelled brush before turning on a record, the sound flowing through the house as I wander upstairs to find a book. Settling on a Muggle classic, I fling the balcony doors open on the third floor and watch as the neighbors walk past the enchanted house. They have no clue I'm above them as I flop into a lounge chair, opening the book.
As the sun shifts into the mid afternoon, my skin becoming warm under the light, I take a break to watch the Muggles again. A young couple passes, swinging their toddler between them, making the little girl emit a string of high giggles. I smile, fondly remembering when my parents did the same. With an air of nostalgia, I find myself wishing I could fill them in on my life and the eighteen years they've missed. Although, the thought of telling my mother of Voldemort has me grimacing. The two of them never would have understood why I joined the Order so young, or why I decided to willingly put myself in a position to hunt down Death Eaters.
A memory of Hermione sobbing to Remus flashes through my mind. It was after she'd Obliviated her own parents, and I remember my heart shattering with the thought that I would have had to do the same if my own were alive.
The little girl on the street shrieks, her giggles bouncing down the cobblestone before her parents turn the corner with her between them. Sighing, I open the book again, content to find Mr. Darcy waiting on the pages.
Immersed in the book, and close to the end, I don't hear Sirius come onto the balcony a few hours later. I distractedly notice that my skin is goose fleshed as he sits down on the lounger, his hands rubbing over my legs, "You're chilled. How long have you been out here?"
Looking up, I notice the sun is sinking towards the horizon, and the balcony has been cast in shade, a light breeze quickening the process of becoming cold. As if on a schedule, I shiver, grinning at the man in front of me, "Since you left."
He grins back, shrugging out of his leather jacket before draping it around my shoulders as I lean towards him, laying a kiss against his cheek. He hums, one of his large hands catching me, his fingers lightly tracing the intimate spot behind my ear. I have only a second to prepare as he gently kisses my lips, the touch soft and curious before he deepens it, my eyelids fluttering closed.
"And what story has you so immersed that you lost track of time? It's six o'clock." Sirius whispers against my lips before pulling away, a disappointed sigh leaving my mouth. He watches me with darkened eyes while he waits for my answer.
"In my defense, at least Mr. Darcy isn't a complete tease," my usual sarcasm comes out a bit whiny and he barks a laugh, the sound bouncing off of the brick house.
"Darling, are you reading the same Pride and Prejudice that I've read? Mr. Darcy is the epitome of..." he stops, a mischievous glint in his eye, "Wait, are you saying I'm a tease or are you comparing me to Mr. Darcy?"
"Which one would make you more furious?" I bite back my smile.
"Hmm," Sirius stands, looking down at me, that glint still in his eye as he slides his fingers under my chin, lifting my eyes to his. His thumb strokes across my bottom lip before he pulls me up to stand with him with his other hand. Taking one step closer, his belt buckle pushes into my stomach, his body pressed against mine in all aspects. As I take a ragged breath, my breasts tease against his lower chest and I can't help the fluttering of my lashes as he watches me with the smoldering smirk on his face. Sirius teases my lips again with his thumb before pushing it between them, my tongue flicking against the pad immediately.
