Ablaze [h.s.]

Chapter 1

I've never really thought of how I would fall in love. Maybe I should've because maybe then everything that's happened wouldn't have.

My mom used to always tell me that when "the one" comes along it will feel like a twin flame. I'm still not sure what that means but if I did then I would still be oblivious. I wish someone could just tell me straight on how love should feel.

"Babe what's going on in that head of yours?"my boyfriend Grey says while he leaves a chaste kiss on my forehead.

I shake my head.

"I'm sorry. I'm just thinking." I say. I know he knows I'm lying. I don't want him to get angry at me that I just can't feel his love.

He lays beside me on our bed and begins to twirl my hair.

"I love you so much." he says looking into my eyes.

He knows I get uncomfortable when he tells me he loves me. I just can't say it. I never felt it when I was young just by my mother but she left me with my drunk father. If that's love then it's pretty fucked up.

I kiss him.

"You're amazing."

"When do you think you'll get over not being able to tell me you love me?"

"I wish I knew."

He takes hold of my waist and pulls me closer to his body.

I give him a soft smile and get up from bed. I go over to the closet and stand in the entryway.

"Have you given thought if we're going to go to Alice's birthday bash?" I ask.

"Well I don't really like the way Alice hosts her parties," he says while getting up from the couch.

I get why he says that but her parties are memorable. I mean seriously it feels like a Great Gatsby party! Ever since she was little she had these grand parties that I could ever wish for.

"Babe it's Alice. My best friend I don't want to flake on her."

He stays silent until he groans.

"Alright whatever I guess we'll go. What's the theme?" he says very annoyed.

"It's cowboy and cowgirl themed!"

"What's the twist?"

Theirs always a twist.

"Uhm...sexy cowboy and cowgirl..." I stay silent waiting for his reaction. Knowing him he'll probably think it's so overrated.

"Why does she always have to put the world sexy in every theme?" he groans.

"She's knows she's sexy. Obviously." I state with an obvious tone.

"You're not wrong." he murmurs under his breath. She pretends she doesn't know how he speaks of Alice. She knows he finds Alice attractive but as long he doesn't make a move then everything's fine.

"Okay so let's go get ready upstairs!" I grab his hand forcing him to walk.

"You already bought them?"

"I already knew you'd say yes so I think you'll love your outfit!"I say excitedly.
