Once upon a time on the island of Bali, precisely in the Klungkung area, there lived a king who had the title Sri Sagening. He has quite a number of wives. The last wife named Ni Luh Pasek. Ni Luh Pasek comes from Panji Village and is a descendant of Kyai Pasek Gobleg. But the fate of Ni Luh Pasek, when she was pregnant, she was gently banished from the palace, she was married to Kyai Jelantik Bogol by her husband.

His sadness was somewhat reduced thanks to Kyai Jelantik Bogol's sincere affection. When the time came for her to give birth to a son, he was named I Gusti Gede Pasekan.

The baby named I Gusti Gede Pasekan is getting bigger day by day, when he grows up he has great authority in Gelgel City. He is very much loved by community leaders and ordinary people.

He is also loved by Kyai Jelantik Bogol like his own son. One day, when he was twenty years old, Kyai Jelantik Bogol called him.

"My son," said Kyai Jelantik Bogol, "Now go to Den Bukit in the Panji area." "Why should I go there, Father?"
"My son, that is the place where your mother was born." "Okay, Dad. I will go there."
Before leaving, Kyai Jelantik Bogol said to his son, "I Gusti, bring these two magical weapons, namely a keris named Ki Baru Semang and a spear named Ki Tunjung Tutur. I hope you will be safe.”

"Okay, Dad!"

On this trip to Den Bukit, I Gusti Gede Pasekan was accompanied by forty people under the leadership of Ki Dumpiung and Ki Kadosot.

After four days of walking, they arrived at a place called the incense stone. There they spent the night. That night I Gusti Gede Pasekan and his mother were closely guarded by their attendants in turns.

In the middle of the night, suddenly a supernatural creature who lives in the forest arrives. I Gusti Gede Pasekan was very easily lifted onto the shoulders of the supernatural being so that he could see the view of the sea and land that lay in front of him. When he looked east and

northwest, he saw a very distant island. Meanwhile, when he looked towards the south, his view was blocked by the mountain. After the supernatural being disappeared, he heard a whisper.

"I Gusti, in fact the area you have just seen will be your territory."

I Gusti Gede Pasekan was very surprised to hear the magical voice. But he also felt happy, wasn't that voice a sign that one day he would get a noble position, become the ruler of a fairly large area.

Indeed, to achieve glory, one must first go through various difficulties. He told what he heard magically to his mother.
His mother encouraged him to keep traveling. The next day the group of I Gusti Gede Pasekan continued their journey which was full of obstacles. Although the journey was difficult and long, they finally managed to reach their destination safely.

One day when he was in his mother's village, a shocking incident occurred. There is a Bugis boat stranded on the beach of Panimbangan. At first the Bugis asked for help from the fishermen there, but they were unable to free the boat that had run aground.

The captain of the Bugis boat was desperate, but the elders of the fishing village approached him. "Only one can help Master."
"Master, just tell me, who can drag the sea boat?"

"A young boy, but powerful and an authoritative boat." replied the village elder. "What's his name?"
“I Gusti Gede Pasekan!”

The next day the Bugis came to I Gusti Gede Pasekan. He said, “We are asking for your help, sir. If you manage to lift your boat, we will hand over a portion of the boat's cargo to you as a reward."

"If that's your promise, sir, I'll try to lift the ship that ran aground," answered I Gusti Gede Pasekan. To release the large boat that ran aground, I Gusti Gede Pasekan issued two heirloom weapons inherited from Kyai Jelantik Bogol.

He focused his mind. Not long after, two spirits appeared from the two heirloom weapons.

"Master, what should I do?"

“Help me drag the ship that ran aground into the open sea!” "Yes sir!"
With the help of the two spirits, he managed to drag the boat with ease.

Other people clearly could not see the presence of the ghost, they only saw I Gusti Gede Pasekan moving his hands pointing towards the boat.

Because he was happy, the Bugis kept his promise. Among the gifts given were two large gongs. Because I Gusti is now a rich man, he is called I Gusti Panji Sakti.

Since that incident, the power of I Gusti Panji Sakti, began to expand and spread everywhere. He also began to establish a new Kingdom in the Den Bukit area.

Around the middle of the 17th century the capital of the Kingdom was called by the people of Sukasada.

Day by day the Kingdom was expanding and growing and then a new Kingdom was established. It is located slightly north of the city of Sukasada. Before being made a city, the area was overgrown with buleleng trees. Therefore, the center of the new kingdom was called Buleleng. Buleleng is the name of a tree whose fruit is very popular with turtledoves. At the center of the new kingdom was erected a magnificent palace, which was named Singaraja.

The name indicates that the occupant is a king who is like a mighty lion. This is because I Gusti Panji Sakti is known as a powerful and brave figure. If there is a gang of pirates or robbers who mess, the King also goes to war with his soldiers, because it is appropriate that his palace is called Singaraja.

There are also those who say that Singaraja means "the king's stopover"?. That said, when his palace was still in Sukasada, the king often stopped there. Thus, the word Singaraja comes from the word Singgah Raja.
