I awake with a start, looking around frantically. It takes me a few moments to register why I woke up so early, and what that annoying sound is coming from downstairs. Someone is calling me. At 7 in the morning. ON A SATURDAY. I swear to all that is good if that is a spam call telling me about my cars extended warranty I will do something not very family friendly. I pull my blanket around myself and shuffle downstairs, yawning. I pick up the phone, and barely get the word 'Hello' out of my mouth before a very loud and frantic voice rang out, causing me to jump. "KARA! Have you heard? The school is doing another dance!". It's my friend, Tomo. "Dance..? You called me at 7 in the GODDAMN morning for a DANCE?" I sigh, though I'm not annoyed at all. "Yes! You were so excited last year when they announced a dance! But then it got cancelled, remember? When the cafeteria set on fire!". Of course I remember. As the senior prank of last year, a girl named Eva Sings set the cafeteria on fire as a final send-off. Typical. "Tomo, you know I remember that as clear as day. I literally cried my eyes out that night. Anyways, I don't have any dresses to wear." I bring the phone over to my couch and sit down, waiting for a response.

"You can always make one!"

Out of all the things in this hell hole I'm good at is designing and making clothes, though I don't do it often anymore. "Tomo, you really think I'm going to design and make an entire dress within two weeks just for a dance?!" I exclaim, laying down now. "Well- I just thou-" He begins, but I cut him off. "Are you insane?! Of course I am! I've been waiting for this day all my life!" I stand up, walking over to the kitchen counter again. "Alright! Great! See you at 5! We'll be at The Coffee Stop!" And he hangs up. I quickly glance at the clock. 7:30. Oh boy, this is gonna be a long morning.

At 4:43, I head off and out the door with my sketchbook and a bag filled with snacks. After ten minutes of walking through the relatively warm weather, I reach the front doors of my favorite place to get coffee, The Coffee Stop. I'm about to enter when a voice reaches my ears, and I turn around. "KARA! Why're you already here?! Tomo said to be here at 5! Which means you LEAVE at 5!" I recognize the voice instantly as my other friend, Maple. "Maple do you- Know how time works?" I say as I lean against the door of the coffee shop, chuckling. "Yeah but- I thought you didn't!" He responds, using the same tone I did. I laugh, placing my hand upon the door once again. "Alright, alright. Lets just get in. I want to show you what I've done!".

We head inside, ordering our coffee and heading to a free table. I scan the room, making sure nobody is looking and open my sketchbook, which holds all sorts of ideas for dresses. Maple, peering down into the book, squints at it in what seems like a confused manner. "Jeez, all this just for girls to look socially presentable?". I chuckle, nodding my head. "That is what it seems. Anyways, if this is anything like the previous years, there is going to be a King and Queen of the prom. I'm going to win it this time, you hear?". And so I will.
