Fatima's frustrated brown eyes darted toward the clock on the wall making her realize that it was nearing noon and she unfortunately had better things to do than her current situation. The low rumble of thunder nearing outside startled her thoughts making her immediately draw her attention towards the large open window decorated on the opposite wall.Though it wasn't supposed to rain until this evening it was clear that the weather too obviously couldn't wait. Sighing heavily, she agitatedly tapped the black fine tipped BIC pen up against the solid cherry wood table of the conference room. All six pair of eyes greeted her agitated stare when she finally brought her attention back to the conversation at hand; her divorce.
"I really hate to interrupt but, how long is this going to take?" She asked with more agitation than intended
Hearing a loud scoff from across the table caught her attention before the small chuckle from her attorney.
"And just what the fuck is your problem?" Fatima questioned her soon to be ex-husband.
Ian's slouched position immediately became erect" You of course are my problem. If you don't care to be here you don't have to. No one is holding a gun to your head." He scolded "You run from everything else." He mumbled but, of course Fatima heard his smart ass comment
Instantly, She laughed out of spite "I run from everything?" Her question came before she began sitting up in her chair, folding her hands in front of her "Ian I swear to God if you say one more—" she paused before shaking her head and sighed heavily again "Andi, please. How much longer is this going to take?"
"Why? Gotta get back to work?" Ian scoffed
"Yes! I do. Something not everyone in this room knows anything about." She rubbed her temples in frustration "Stop talking to me, please. I'm seriously not in the mood to read your ass today."
Hayden, Ian's lawyer and long term best friend shuffled his paperwork and placed his hand on the back of Ian's chair " Ms. Barnes, I think we have covered enough for today; yes?" Andi nodded and sat back in her chair with a snide smirk "Mr. Wright and I will be in touch with an agreement. Hopefully this can be resolved without going to court?" He asked before taking a second to look Fatima's direction.
"I think we are all on the same page here" Andi stated before they both arose from their seats in sync. Ian glanced over at Fatima making her roll her hate filled eyes before nudging Andi. Catching his glare, Andi cleared her throat "Also, tell your client to have minimal contact with my client until our next meeting"
"Really Tima?" Ian questioned, crossing his arms over his chest. "You're so damn childish I swear"
Before Fatima could speak, Andi's hand went to her shoulder "Don't even" she warned pointing her finger in Fatima's direction.
"I think I'm starting to find the time to indulge in this petty shit today Andrea." Fatima declared before her eyes darted towards Hayden "Get your boy" Came the warning matched with a raised eyebrow
"Don't address him. The hell is wrong with you Fatima? I'm standing right here. Talk to me!" Ian's baritone echoed throughout the room
"We're done here" Andi ushered her client out of the room. When they reached Andi's corner office, closed the door behind the pair and she leaned against it "What the hell was that?"
Fatima shrugged "Don't ask me. Ask Ian's stupid ass. I was trying to be civil but that's clearly not what he wants. He just wants to damn argue" She concluded
