Two weeks later
The sound of stifled laughs and nails clicking a mile a minute could be heard throughout the conference room. Six eyes stared in the direction of the sounds; two of them were clearly aggravated and interested in just what the fuck was so damn funny.
"Are we interrupting something?" Ian's tone sounded more childish than ever
Fatima who was clearly wrapped deep into an playful argument with Zac, who currently was trying to convince her that 9-1-1 Lone Star was better than the original 9-1-1 series and she seriously had to disagree with him.
She didn't even care that he didn't agree with her; what she did care about was the fact that he had taken an interest in something that she liked after she told him that it was one of her favorite shows; she cared about the fact that he had taken the time out to watch the show and was even having this conversation with her at 4 in the afternoon; she cared that she was going to get the opportunity to see him later on this evening and she definitely cared to see that her soon to be ex husband was bothered at this moment.
She raised her eyebrow and glanced up at Ian before responding to the banter in her phone "I'm sorry. I thought a grown ass man with no job said something" she giggled to herself and quickly told Zac she was in a meeting and had to go.
She sat up in her seat and sat her phone down
"What Ian? What is on your "What can I ask Fatima for" list today?"
Slightly embarrassed, Ian went on " We were talking about the house"
"I'm working on it"
Her phone vibrated against her palm. She rolled her eyes before responding back to Zac.
"What does that mean Tima?!" Ian yelled "Tell that nigga you'll call him later damnit. We are in the middle of something!"
Ian was completely frustrated with Fatima's nonchalant attitude and her inability to focus. He was depending on her to work out a deal with the realtor so he would walk away from this marriage with something. They agreed to split everything evenly in the event of a divorce but unfortunately Ian infidelity with his secretary left him with $0.00.
It was not only her lack of interest in this conversation that bothered him. He wouldn't say it aloud but Ian definitely felt some type of way at this moment. They had been together for 12 years. He knew her routine like the back of his hand. He knew her every thought.
Watching her in this moment had him confused.
Fatima always had eyes for Ian, even in college. She never entertained anyone else. Not once in twelve years. Not until now. He could see the side smirk riding her lips he could hear the small giggles and watched her trying not to grin at her phone. She was crushing. She was entertaining someone else. She was moving on.
Zachary🙄:

4:28pmFatima🍑:

4:31pmZachary 🙄:

4:35pmZachary🙄:
What's it to you?
4:36pm"Be easy Ian" Came the advice from his attorney
Fatima sat her phone down on the table in front of her to wait on Zac's response. "One: lower your damn tone. I don't have to do shit for you Ian. Two: I spoke with Jonathan. We had a meeting yesterday morning to discuss selling the house. Cleaning crew is set up to come in on Friday. I have a pre-inspection on Saturday morning. And a photographer is coming Saturday afternoon to take pictures. So like I said, I am working on it. Three: Doesn't feel so good does it." She stated and immediately he knew exactly what she meant.
