A trip to the past.

Wake up call.

Nightmare woke up, but he wasn't in the mansion, it seemed he was in someone's dream. a dream of someone prior close to him. he began searching through the area, it seemed like his Au? he seen a small skeleton and cautiously made his way towards them.
the skeleton was laying in a patch of flowers unconscious, blood rolling down his head with large cracks in his skull along with purple and black bruises. he then realized who this was.

Dream...

the skeleton suddenly woke up in the dream, he seemed dazed and unfocused, then their eyes locked, Dream tried to get away as quickly as he could.

"Please don't hurt me again.." he mumbled looking scared, no, terrified.
"Dream!' he ran over and hugged his brother, bursting  into tears "I'm so so so sorry, I shouldn't have done this, any of this!" he cried out, the boy in his arms couldn't believe it, the thing he wanted for so long just happened, but he frown "Nightmare... please don't, you're gonna hurt me later, this, all of this is fake..when I wake up you're gonna hurt me." the boy who was supposed to be of positivity just cried and tried to get away from the one he had always treasured as Nightmare realized just how badly he fucked up. he knew he had to go to this dreams timeline and stop the events from happening.

"I'll stop this from continuing, I promise, now wake up Sunshine.." he smiled as the dream world started to fade, he locked onto the cords of the past AU and telaported there.

Nightmares POV

I woke up infront of Dream, I felt a tug at my soul but sighed. I can't focus on that now I need to stop the next event.
I ran off to find myself from this AU..it didn't take long seeing as I was surrounded by arrogant people.
I grabbed him and took him away from the large crowd.

"Listen. And listen carefully." I spoke in a stern voice "you will not execute him today or any day after th-" I was cut off "like hell I'm gonna listen to you, he's a disgrace." I slapped him.
"I have already been through this. I know what you are thinking but do NOT do this. "The last thing he said to you while holding him in your arms begging for him to spit out the bit of apple was 'I'm sorry, I hope you'll be happier now, even if that means I won't be there to see you be that happy' the first time you ever told your brother you loved him or even gave him a genuine hug was while he was dying in your arms. And you wanna know what he asked for before all that?" I awaited his response as I stared in frustration "What." I took a breath trying to get my calm back "he asked for a simple fucking hug. A HUG because as he drew nearer to death he realized all he wanted was to feel loved by the person who was supposed to be there for him for once. And guess what!? You were the one who executed him. because YOU.believed.a.lie."

He scoffed "like I would ever tell that disgrace that I 'love' him. He deserves what he's getting.

Past Nightmare

I turned around and headed back to the yard where I would kill Dream. But the words spoken by that man spun in my head "this is the right thing to do. He Hurt my friends and almost killed one." I mumbled to myself as I went to get an apple from the tree.

But when I got to my side I heard a voice speaking, I sat on a branch and listened:
"Mom, why did you create me? He would have been better off alone" the trees leaves swayed in response 'because you need eachother' *sigh* "but he clearly doesn't! Honestly...all's I want is a hug from Nighty, a genuine one, that's all, then I'd go away so he'd be able to live happily without me in the way" silence "but I know that won't happen, he hates me"

I almost laughed 'a hug? What a weakling.' I thought to myself as I grabbed an apple off the tree, I then quietly got down and headed to make an announcement.

Nightmares POV

"Everyone! I have very important and exciting news!" I heard his voice over the speaker, I sighed, I knew what he was going to do "Dream's execution is today! As you all may have heard he almost killed one of our dear friends. So today is the day! Gather around the Tree!"

I got up off the ground and headed towards the tree to watch my younger self, if he wasn't going to listen he was sure as hell going to learn the consequences of his actions and believing that dirty liar.

As people began gathering around the tree Dream was brought to the front by Nightmare, as i already knew Dream just smiled weakly.

The apple was place in his hand, he stepped back "now eat it you damn disgrace." Mini Me's voice rang out.
I watched him smile before watching Dream bite into the apple, his face turned to horror as blood ran from his mouth, his seemingly permanent smile finally dropping into horror and pain "Dream..?" Little me mumbled as he watched his brother drop to his knees, cracks spreading across his body. "DREAM SPIT IT OUT!" he screamed as he ran over, Dream his looked him in the eyes with a small sad smile "I hope you'll be happier now, I'm so sorry I ruined the first few years of your life" I watched as little me brought him into his arms "no no no, Dream spit it out, please, please just spit it out!"

Little Night's pov

I felt tears stream down my cheeks as I held him close before trying to get him to throw up the apple chunk, it wasn't working, I felt my breathing quicken "please, Dream for the love of everything spit it out, throw it up! Something! Please!" I froze when I heard a small whisper as his grip on me loosened slightly '...this is nice..' Dream started fading in my arms as dust started falling to the ground and on my lap "no please, Dream, brother, I love you please don't go, please I shouldn't-" before I could even finish my scentence he looked up at me "it's ok, you'll be happier now, and I'm sorry I won't be here to see it" he then dusted.

My little brother just dusted in my arms.
