Second hour was a drag. Same with third and fourth.
As I walked out of chemistry, my fourth hour, I walked out into the hallway, and started to walk towards the cafeteria. It wasn't until I got into the crowded room that I realized I hadn't packed myself a lunch.
"Shoot." I mumbled.
My eyes darted around the room searching for Levi. My eyes quickly found him. Sitting with a tall dark blonde boy in the corner of the cafeteria. He looked up and we instantly made eye contact. He smiled and waved for me to come over.
I walked over and sat next to Levi, smiling at the boy across from him. I'm Jesse he said waving.
"Hey." I said shyly. "Um, I'm Gwen."
He gave me a sweet smile and replied, "It's nice to meet you."
I smiled and nodded.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Levi said to me.
"Oh, uh, I'm not hungry." I lied.
"Are you sure?" He asked, sounding concerned.
"I'm fine really." I said to him, hoping to reassure him.
"Okay.." He said. "Do you want my apple?"
"Sure." I said smiling.
---------
After lunch was fifth hour. Calculus.
Levi walked me to my class.
"Can I take you home after school? I don't want to make you walk.." Levi said.
"I'd like that." No one had ever been so nice to me before. Why was he being so sweet?
"I'll pick you up from your last class." He said. "What is it?"
"Uh.. Floral Design."
"Serious?" He started laughing
"Shut up!" I said hitting his arm playfully.
"See you after class" he said, still chuckling as he walked away.
I walked into calculus and took my seat next to my best friend Lacey.
"Where the heck have you been!?" She yelled as I sat down.
"What do you mean?" I said to her.
"You weren't in first hour, and I didn't see you at all at lunch!" She said.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" I had totally forgot to tell her I was sitting with Levi. "I was sitting with someone else..."
"Who!?" She looked hurt.
"Um.. a boy."
The hurt instantly left her eyes and transferred to excitement.
"What boy! Who? Who!?" She was talking ridiculously loud. "Tell me!!"
"Shh!!" I said to her. "His name is Levi."
"No way! Wait the really tall kid?"
I nodded.
"Oh he's hot!" She screamed.
The entire class turned and looked at us.
"Awkward." Lacey said in a high pitched voice, which made me burst into laughter.
The tardy bell started ringing and my teacher, Mr. Cassidy walked to the front of the room.
"Alright class." He said in his monotone voice. "Quiet down. Please pass up your homework."
My mouth fell open.
"oops.."
"Did you not do it!?" Lacey whispered to me.
"No! My mom and I had another fight last night..." I whispered back.
"Gwen. Did you turn in your homework?" Mr. Cassidy came and asked me.
"um.. well.. no." I said, looking at the ground.
"This is the fourth time in a row, Ms. Wilcock." He said to me in a stern voice.
"I know.. I'm sorry." I said, putting my face in my hands.
"Just do it next time please." He said walking away.
----------
Finally the final bell rang. It was the weekend.
I walked out of my floral design class to see Levi across the hallway leaning against the brick wall.
I smiled and walked up with him.
"Hey" I said up to him
"Hello there." He said laughing and showing off his perfect smile.
"Ready to go?" I said.
"Yeah. I'm parked out that door" He said pointing to a nearby exit.
We walked out into the parking lot.
As we walked it seemed like everyone knew Levi. Everyone was talking to him and saying hi.
He pulled out his keys from his backpack and unlocked a black Kia. One of nicest cars in the parking lot. He opened the door for me and I climbed in.
I gave him my address and he plugged it into he built in GPS.
As we were driving we started playfully fighting over the radio station. Pushing the buttons and switching the channels. While we were laughing and pushing the buttons, I noticed his facial expression sadden. I gave him a weird look and looked down at my arm.
My sweater sleeve had rolled up and you could see the scars on my wrist.
I quickly pulled down my sleeve and sat back in the seat.
We were quiet for the rest of the car ride. We pulled up to my house and I started to get out of the car. 'Great, my screwed up life always ruins everything.' I thought to myself. Fighting to hold back the tears I could feel swelling up in my eyes.
"Wait." Levi said grabbing my arm.
I turned and looked into his eyes, they were full of concern.
I stared at him for a couple of seconds and waited for him to speak.
"I uh-" He stuttered.
I cut him off. "I understand if you don't want to talk to me anymore. Why would any one want to be friends with the creepy emo girl right?"
"That's not wh-" He started to say.
I didn't want to hear it, so I cut him off by slamming his car door.
I walked up to my front door, part of me wishing he would come after me, like in those cute romance movies. I turned around just as I was opening the door to see his car pulling away.
I shut the door and collapsed on the floor in tears.
"Honey, whats wrong?" My mom ran to me asking.
I was still mad at her, but I had no one else to talk to.
"I can't do this anymore." I said between sobs.
