College Years

The sun slowly rose. The rays peaking through the room of Kate Woods. Her alarm starting ringing sounding her to get up. Groaning, she rolled over and turned her alarm off. As she slowly arose from her cocoon of blankets, she stretched and rubbed her eyes, waking herself up.

Sighing she got up "New day.. heh.."

Kates POV

I'm Kate Woods. I'm twenty one years old and a senior in college, studying to become a sidekick for heroes in the future. I was gonna start my own agency but I sadly didn't have my best friend Tenko by my side to help start and live my dream. That's what stopped me cause I wish he was here. I was told he had died at his home when we were kids when his home and property were destroyed. It has been a mystery for years and I really wish I knew if he really was dead or not. I miss him very much and I'm sure he watched me get older and start college living a somewhat dream of mine.

I've got a quirk called Shadow. Basically, I can manipulate a shadow like power out of my hands that can cause darkness in a room or closed place, I can shield myself or others, and also can control it to grab things, like people for example. If I was a hero it could be useful like catching villains with my shadow controlling power. I would also be able to shield myself from danger or if I was being attacked.

Since I dropped my dream of starting my agency, I decided to focus on my studies and finish out strongly in my life. I now live in a small complex home with my two roommates, Clara and Malarie. We became pretty close after the first few days of college started when we were all freshmen.

I've also got a boyfriend. He's... ok I guess. Luka is my boyfriend and we met at a college party during our summer vacation last year. He's a tall 6'5 guy with blonde hair and blue eyes. Now I know I know, typical guy a girl would fall in love with in a story, but at the time I thought he was dreamy. But I realize, he's just starting to become old news. I barely see him since he's always partying. He also only uses me to show me off and for the sex. Why didn't I break it off yet? Well cause tonight, he actually said he's taking me out. Now that's a change in heart from this beanstalk looking guy. All I know is, he told me to look good and show up to a local cafe at 3. Weird time but ok.

I started my morning with getting myself woken up. I made some eggs and toast for myself, grabbing myself some orange juice to start off my day. As I sat at my dining table, also realized my roommates weren't home. Either they stayed at guys places or already went to their early morning classes. For me, I had a day off. No classes for me today which I was thankful for I kinda needed a mental health day. I sipped my orange juice when something furry rubbed up against my leg. Looking down, I saw my cat Murphy. He's a beautiful white cat with black patches on him, along with beautiful yellow eyes. I smiled down at him and petted his head.

"Morning Murphy. Ready for breakfast?"

He meowed up at me and head butted my leg. I giggled a bit as I stood up carrying my plate and glass over to the sink. Murphy followed me closely behind meowing while trotting up to me.

I looked down at him and giggled again. "Ok ok buddy. I'm getting your food calm down.."

I grabbed his bowl from the cabinet, along with his container that was filled with food for him. Opening up the container only made him meow more and rub against my leg. Pouring in some food, he trotted over to his mat where his bowl sits for him. I walked over and sat it down for him and gave him a pet. He purred and started to eat his food. I stood back up and went to the sink to wash up my dishes I made.

While washing my dishes, one of my roommates came in. It was Clara. Clara was your normal pick me up girl but she was really sweet. The only reason we got along so well was because we shared our love for Stranger Things. Let's just say me and her the first night we spent together, talked about Stranger Things until two in the morning and all the theories that she heard about it. I must say though, she's fun to be around.
