The next few days Sylvia had continued to stay a few hours with Theo, their banter and flirting continued.

Theo was getting stronger each day, and was released a week later and sent home, the only now was hard work and physical therapy.

Sylvia was happy for him, she really was, but work had started to become boring and it only had been a day. She didn't want to admit to herself that she might actually miss him. She barely knew him. It didn't help that she didn't get to say goodbye. He had been released before she had gone in that day and when she got there and saw his empty bed she nearly freaked out, thinking the worst.

She had texted Carol that she wouldn't be in today and decided she would surprise him. Maybe she'd bring him something nice to congratulate him on being able to go home. Or was that stupid? She didn't know, and she certainly couldn't tell her parents that she had been hanging out with him when she was specifically told not to. She wished she could text Alice. Alice would know.

She bit her lip and quickly grabbed her car keys before she changed her mind.

She quickly ran to the store and grabbed some supplies to make a nice treat for him. She wasn't much of a baker but it couldn't be that hard.

She arrived home, also trying to beat the clock of when her parents would be home. However she could always say that baking is supposedly helpful for anxiety and depression. Maybe it would get her mom off her back about a therapist.

Mixing the batter was easy enough and putting them in the oven. She set the timer and cleaned up.

She was in the middle of it when her mom walked in.
"What's all this?" She asked.

"Baking."

"Why?" Her mom asked, setting her purse down.

Sylvia shrugged. "I wanted to try it."

"Why aren't you at the hospital?"

"I said I wasn't going to make it in today. I wanted the day to myself."

Her mom looked at her and sighed. "Is this about that boy?"

"What boy?" Sylvia asked, her voice cracking.

Her mom rubbed her forehead and looked at her. "Sylvia please..." she begged.

"It's different mom. I promise," Sylvia assured, however she couldn't believe it herself, she just needed her parents to.

"Is it? Really? And if he really knew all the details would it still be different?"

Sylvia felt the sting of her words. She wanted to scream but she just looked away, blinking back tears. "I don't know."

"Listen, I know it's hard-"

"No you don't!" Sylvia cracked, screaming at her mom. "You guys think you know, but you don't, you don't understand, even you two can't look at me the same! Theo actually looks at me!"

Sylvia brushed her tears away cursing as she smelled the scent of burned food. She quickly grabbed the tray out of the oven and saw that there was no saving it. They were ruined. She dropped the tray in the sink and sighed.

She ignored her mom as she grabbed some sweets from the pantry and her car keys. "He doesn't know, and he won't ever find out. I'll make sure of that."

She then left without another word and headed to his house, which wasn't hard to find thanks to the news articles.

She walked up to the door and bit her lips nervously as she rang the doorbell. She wished she would've dressed better than just a plain tshirt and leggings.
A man answered the door. "Yes?" He asked, standing there.
