You: WHERE ARE YOU

I sighed before setting my phone down in defeat, staring back at the half-finished book in my lap. I’ve been texting Axel and Aleksei for the whole morning, and not one response from both of them.

Seriously, though, this wasn’t normal. Axel always has his phone with him, so does Aleksei. Did something go wrong?

I started panicking. Maybe I shouldn’t be overreacting, but they were my best friends since third grade.

I had called Axel already, but he didn’t pick up. Aleksei doesn’t like calls, so I didn’t even try, or I’d get the lecture about ‘why calls are inconvenient and stupid’.

I set my book down, grabbing a random piece of paper from my nightstand and sticking it into my book as the bookmark.

I snatched a coat from the rack and ran out the door.

The fresh winter air hit me as soon as I stepped out of my cozy home.

I ran to Axel’s house, since it was closest to mine.

The door was unlocked, so I stepped inside cautiously.

Dear whoever is reading this,

Hello! Firstly, if you are a robber, get out of my house.

Secondly, if you are Aleksei or Arya, I’m not here right now. Where I am, will not be your concern. Also, I left my phone somewhere and I can’t find it, so…too bad.

Again, I repeat, if you are a robber, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE.

I put the letter back, without any new information.

I debated on going to Aleksei’s house, but decided against it because he hates people after all, and if he was ignoring his phone it was probably for a reason.

I retired into my bed after coming back home, tired. I still found it strange they weren’t responding, but I just left it at that.

After finishing the book, I stared at the blank wall, my thoughts invading my head.

They were interrupted by a violent ping on my phone.

No, it couldn’t be a text message. They didn’t make that sound. But again, I’ve never heard that type of ping before. I checked my notifications, but there were no new alerts.

Finally, I opened the texting app. Like I expected, there was nothing there. But that was about to change.

A notification pinged on my phone, making it vibrate. It seemed like a call.

The number was unrecognized.

I wasn’t going to pick up a random stranger on a call. Nope, not happening.

I considered picking up, though.

*WHAT DO YOU WANT, FAT MONKEY? WHY THE- *

Never mind. Not a good idea.

Soon, the call automatically hung up.

In my messages, was a new message.

Your little friend needs help, Arya. What will you do?
