The taxi ride was quiet, the peaceful purring of Koneko and the little gasps escaping my lips once in a while from crying so hard the only sound in the car. Thankfully, the driver didn't question it, probably thinking it was better to not get involved.
The car came to a stop, the driver announcing us the price. I got my card out, arguing shortly with Kirishima before I snatched his wallet and payed with my own money, then gave him his wallet back. I picked up Koneko, who was still asleep, and got out the car, Kirishima snatching my bag before I could take it, wanting to bring it for me. I let him carry it, since it seemed to make him feel useful.
Kirishima's house was a classic one in a little suburb. Stairs leaded to the entry door, made in warm wood. The whole house looked cozy. You know the kind of aura grandma's gives? Something like that. It had a tiny bit of a yokelish style, but not enough to look like a chalet.
Since it was still pouring rain, Kirishima hurried to the entry. I walked a bit slower, letting the rain calm my nerves. Thankfully, Koneko's traveling bag was waterproof, otherwise she would've been drenched and cold by now. Arriving to the entry where Kirishima was waiting, I prepared myself for his parents.
He opened the door and let me go in first. He announced himself while I took off my shoes and placed them in the shoe rack near the door. Footsteps were heard coming out way and a woman appeared, followed by a tall man, probably Kirishima's parents.
The woman was kind of short, probably around 5'0 or 5'1. She had black short hairs, messily styled. Her eyes were a shining virid, studying me. The man was maybe around 6'0, taller than his son. His skin was in a gray tone and looked hard to touch, probably from his quirk. He had brown slicked back hairs and vermilion eyes, just like Kirishima's.
The man approached me and extended his hand for a hand shake while introducing himself.
"Hello, nice to meet you, my name is Toyoda Kirishima. I am happy to have you here, what is happening to you is simply horrifying."
I shook his hand, forcing a little smile. "It's nice to meet you too, my name is (Y/n) (L/n), but please call me (Y/n)."
The woman took a step forward to introduce herself too. Her voice was soothing, reminding me of the warmth of a candle. "I'm Kodama Tsutsui. I hope you'll be comfortable here."
I nodded, turning to her. "Nice to meet you."
Kirishima put his hand on my shoulder, saving me from the awkwardness coming if I didn't found anything to say next. "You should install Koneko's things, I'm going to put your bag in the guest room."
I nodded, crouching down to let the kitten out. Toyoda and Kodama went respectively toward what seemed like the kitchen and living room. I opened the traveling bag and petted Koneko's head softly, waking her up.
"Hey there little princess, we're gonna stay here for maybe a week. Go explore and do uh... what cats do I guess." As if she understood me, she yawned and stretched, getting out of the bag and going toward the kitchen. I did the same, her items in hand.
Kodama was busy cooking what seemed like Udon, humming a tune under her breath. Hearing me arrive, she turned around and greeted me.
"Hello there, do you need anything?"
Looking away, I responded "Um yes actually. Can I put Koneko's food and water on the counter? Also, is there a place where I could put her litter?"
The woman turned back to brew her noodles, nodding. "Absolutly. Also, you can put the litter in the laundry room. Second door to the left in the hallway." She turned around again "Tell me dear, have you eaten? I'm cooking Udon.".
