EJ's Pov

After a little while of comforting Y/N and having a discussion about what she should and shouldn't reveal about her past I head home, my mood much more content, especially after getting my feelings out in the open. I was hoping for the sparks or butterflies but they just weren't there in the kiss. I guess we had been friends for so long I thought it would be nice to have something more, but things aren't always meant to be so it was okay. I couldn't believe Slender was behaving in that way though! If he didn't like her he should be man enough to say so instead of ignoring and avoiding her! He feelings were so strong, I could see it! I don't know about all the soulmate stuff but she looked so happy when she talked about him. Especially Sally. If anything else Slender should talk to her for Sally's sake. Y/N would get over Slender eventually but letting her see Sally would be good for all of them.

"You're late and you didn't say where you were going," A deep voice says when I enter the mansion.

"I had an emergency at the hospital. I worked hard for this job," I says simply, giving my shoulders a light shrug.

"Where is your mask?" He growls out.

"In my bag," I tell him, holding out the bag I kept on me at all times. "I didn't need it once I entered the trees so I didn't bother."

The two of us square off and I know he can smell Y/N's scent off of me. He'd been around her enough to recognize it so I wouldn't be surprised if he questions me.

"I won't ask the reason you're lying to me but know this. I don't take kindly to someone hiding a threat to this family even if they are a best friend. Eyeless Jack," Slender growls out as I walk past him.

"I would never bring any harm here Slenderman, but I have things I like to protect as well." I say softly before continuing on my way up the stairs. "It's a shame you aren't able to recognize a good thing even when it's right in your face."

With that, I head upstairs and head to my room, making a bow to myself. I'll protect you Y/N, even if it costs me my life.

I still remember the first day I had met her. She was in soiled clothes, scuffed and bruised, and had a pretty scary stab wound. I was on my way home after kidney harvesting and taking a midnight stroll through the town, needing the cool air to calm the adrenaline pumping through my veins. I had nearly gotten caught and had to make a quick escape with kidney in hand. Hey, fast food I guess? As I was walking home this young woman comes running down the sidewalk, looking as if she had just seen a ghost. She wasn't watching where she was going and I wasn't exactly expecting her the barrel into me so she sent us both crashing to the ground.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" She cried, rolling off of me and stumbling to her feet.

"Wait! Are you alright?!" I cried, grabbing a hold of her hand.

"N-No! There's someone trying to kill me!" She cries, trembling hard as her eyes quickly dart around. "He just, he came out of nowhere! White hoody, pale face, some creepy ass joker smile on his lips! Fucker got me pretty good but I managed to get away."

"Woah there," I tell her, scrambling to my feet and steadying her when she suddenly sways in place.

"I feel so sleepy but I need to go! I can't be caught," She mumbles to herself before her eyes roll back and her body goes to collapse.

I was quick to catch her, scooping her into my arms and hurrying to the small apartment I was using for a temporary address for my job since I couldn't exactly put down the mansion. Plus, if I ever wanted to get away or lure my victims to an easier place having the apartment was very convenient. I worked at the hospital an just outside of town but had my place an hour away to keep humans from trying to pry into my life. I manage to unlock the door and get her inside, assessing her injuries and getting her patched up. Thankfully Jeff had managed to miss the major arteries. It was likely that it was more the adrenaline crash than the blood loss that made her collapse.
